• Figures and tables are the most efficient way to
present results
• Captions and legends must be detailed enough to
make figures and tables self explanatory
• No duplication of results described in text or other
illustrations

service to improve your paper before you submit it.

How to submit
• You can submit to most elsevier journals using an
online system, either the elsevier editorial system
(EES), or elsevier’s new system EVISE®.
• Follow the ‘submit your paper’ link on your journal's
homepage. You’ll be taken to EES or EVISE® and
prompted to log in .

• If you’re using the system for the first time, follow
the instructions to register. If you’re returning, log
in
• Once you’re in the system, you will be guided
through the submission process
• When you have completed your submission,
you’ll receive an email with a reference number

• The journal editor will make a first decision about
your submission. If it’s suitable for the journal, the
editor will send your manuscript to one or more
reviewers – experts in your field.

4. Track Your Submission
Track status of submitted article
• Log in to EES as author for the journal to which you
submitted your manuscript.
• In your 'author main menu' in EES:
• Click 'submissions being processed' if your article is
in the submission phase.
• Click 'revisions being processed' if your article is in
the revisions phase.
• Look under 'current status' to find the status of your
submission.

Track status of accepted article
• Go to the track your accepted article tool.
• Provide your article details and click 'track article'.
• Complete the 'our reference code' field. You find the
reference code (e.G. ABCD_1234) in the
acknowledgement email you received from us.
• Complete the 'corresponding author's surname' field.
• This field is case sensitive.
• Click 'track article' to find the status of your accepted
article.

5. Proofing and Licensing
• Congratulations!
• As soon as it’s accepted, your article will be given
a DOI and published on sciencedirect as an
article in press.
Copyright
• You will receive a copyright agreement to sign
during the time between your article's acceptance
and its final version.

6.Sharing And Promoting
Your Article
Now that your article is published, you can promote
your research by sharing. This helps you get cited
more, enabling you to cultivate a stronger
reputation, promote your research and move
forward in your career.
