How to reflecting on a photo shoot


Title - Reflecting on Photo shoot 1/2/3/4/5

Introduction

Write a general paragraph explaining the details of the shoot. Where did you go?
Why? Who with? First shoot it is a future tense plan.
Explain overall how the shoot went. What were your overall goals for the shoot?

Produce a contact sheet and printing

Produce the contact sheet and circle your best shots. Choose a shortlist of your best
shots and print at a Kiosk (minimum of 2 images) Choose the shots that may make the
final body of work.

Critiquing your selected images

Reflect on those particular shots and compliment what has really worked and criticise
the shortcomings. Use these categories to help you; (BE Critical)

1.Visibility of concept, does it meet your intentions?
2.Composition, (TABLES)
3.Camera tech, (Histogram images) under over expose, blur, depth of field, Contrast,
dynamic range,
4.Consideration of Lighting, How did you control the ambient light? Key light, hard
light, soft light. Contrast, Flash, Video Light
-Vantage point/Angle, why? Did you consider it?
Framing, What is in the frame? What did you cut out?

Conclusion

Set yourself goals and targets. See your conclusion as a to do list you set yourself to
ensure your work ends up a complete body of work that meets your intentions.
Do you need to reshoot this idea because of technical errors in lighting or camera?
How could it improve?
What are you going to do next shoot?
Have your ideas changed slightly from your last shoot?
What do you need to put right or consider to help complete this body of work?
