Use of not only but also
•Rule 1: The sentence must present two Part of
information.
•Rule 2: The first part of information comes after 'not only,'
and the second part of information comes after 'but also.‘
• Rule 3: Each part of information must be parallel or equal
structures.
•That is to say, you should use the same parts of speech for
each (comparing nouns to nouns, verbs to verbs, adjective
and adjective etc.).
Construction -1
•(Adj)adjective based construction
•He is Not only adj-1 but also adj-2
•Adj-1-Poor :and adj-2-silent
•Two adjectives nature must be synonymous
in nature
•Example-He is not only poor but also silent
Construction -2
•General(G) Noun based Construction
•He is Not only G.noun-1 but also G.noun-2
•G.noun-1-Doctor :and G.noun-2-Teacher
•Two G.Noun must be different
•Example-He is not only Doctor but also teacher
Construction -3
•Verb(V)based Construction
•He is Not only V1+ing but also V2+ing
•V1+ing-Eating :and V2+ing-Talking
•Two verb must be different
•Example-He is not only eating but also
talking
