Life Metaphor
Is Everest a Metaphor for Life? Almost everything worthwhile carries with it some sort of risk,
whether it s starting a new business, whether it s leaving home, whether its getting married, or whether
it s flying in space. Chris Hadfield Is it just that every second of every day we take a risk? Us humans
take risks every day . There is not any certain way to live life. Maybe we should consider doing things
different? Now thinking positive how are you considering things easier. Take precautions to every
risk. There is always a positive and negative affect. Life s wonderful , it s just what we don t usually
do when we do. Why is that? No, i likely agree people should take the advantages of all the things in

I would not agree with this because, life s an ultimate risk. Life is inherently risky (Denis Waitley)
.There is only one big risk you should avoid at all cost, and that is the risk of doing nothing . Don t do
nothing , start your success off right with doing the things you love. If you are not willing to risk the
unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary. (Jim Rohn) People don t settle for less than what you
can achieve . When you take risks you learn that there is times where you succeed and there will be
times when you fail, and both are equally important. ( Ellen De Generous). There is always the fear
that comes along while taking risks, Don t be afraid of making mistakes, an average person makes

James D. Watson
James D Watson was a brilliant scientist who made important discoveries about the structure of DNA
and genealogy. James was very intelligent from the beginning. He graduated from high school at the
age of 15 and immediately after he enrolled at the University of Chicago. One of his teachers from
Chicago said that Watson must have been very keen . He said this because he had given him 2 A s, and
I don t give very many A s. The famous biologist Paul, Weiss, who was James Watson s instructor,
said Watson never took any notes in class, yet he came out top of the class at the end of the semester.
James was born on April 6th, 1928, to an average class family. His father, James Dewey Watson, was
a businessman who worked for a correspondence school. Watson said that his father s job was awful
and he would have been better off working as a schoolteacher. Jean Watson was his mother. She was
employed at the University of Chicago as a secretary. His mother also volunteered for the Democratic
Party, and she held party meetings in the basement of the Watson home. ... Show more content on

Online Vehicle Rental System
PROPOSAL FOR AN ONLINE VEHICLE RENTAL SYSTEM
A DISSERTATION PROPOSAL SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULFULLMENT OF THE UNIT (
PROJECT, UNIT CODE) BIT 2221.
JUNE 2012
ABSTRACT
This project is being considered in order to reduce and totally eliminate loss of customers to
competitors, and save the company from folding up. The current system is manual and it is time
consuming. It is also cost ineffective, and average return is low and diminishing. Currently, customers
can call or walk in in order to rent or reserve a vehicle. The staff of the company will check their file
to see which vehicle is available for rental. The current system is error prone and customers are
dissatisfied. The goal of this project is to automate vehicle rental ... Show more content on

It will be easy for the company staff to keep track of available, reserved or rented vehicle so as to
avoid the confusion of reserving one vehicle for two clients which is a common problem when using
manual systems To the Client/customer
The customer will not have to travel to the company offices for Him to reserve of rent a vehicle. He
will do so at the comfort of his home or office.
1.4 Problem Statement
Currently the system being used is a manual one where clients have to come physically into the office
in order for them to rent or reserve a vehicle. The system poses a number of challenges that include:
1. Time consuming
In the current system, clients have to come to the company offices physically in order to rent or
reserve a vehicle which is a waste of time.
When there are many clients to be attended to it may take long for the company staff to serve all of
them.
2. Error Prone
The company staff are very likely to make errors when using the current manual system, for example
it is very easy to reserve one car for two clients, under charge or overcharge a client.
3. Cost
The operating cost of the current System is high but with the implementation of the Automated
System only a few no of staff will be able to run the System.
1.5 Proposed solution
The problems of the current System will be addressed by the development of an online vehicle rental
and reservation System so that customers do not need to walk in or call in

All Faiths Food Bank Organization
All Faiths Food Bank is an organization that collects food products from many donation sources and
distributes them to local people that are in need. The organization moves the food through its 20,000
square foot warehouse, off Fruitville Road in Sarasota (A). After the food is properly inspected, it is
then distributed to, currently 184, Sarasota and DeSoto County agencies and outpost centers, such as
mobile pantries at community centers and churches (A). Those that are deemed financially eligible
applicants can then receive their, much needed, nutritional assistance. Because of the summer
programs last year, such as the backpack program, 26,986 children received food; this equates to
1,994,415 meals (B). It is estimated that All Faiths Food Bank supplies a total of approximately 8
million pounds of food per year, which equates to 6.5 million meals (A).
My first, 3 hour, volunteer session was this past Saturday morning at the food bank warehouse. I
worked alongside a team of 9 people with Ben, our lead supervisor, and Fran Tally, the organization s
volunteer coordinator. Our shift assignment was to unpack large boxes of mingled frozen meats and
pack the contents into separate 40 pound boxes. These individually packed boxes were required to
contain beef, poultry, or pork.
My second volunteer session was at the Nokomis Park Community Center for a little over 2 hours. I
served as part of a team of about a dozen volunteers at this location, which operates as a mobile

The Possible Links Between Cellphone Uses and Tumors
1. How do cellphones work? These work by the signals which are transmitted to and can be received
from the base station (usually located close by) through RF wave. RF wave is a type of
electromagnetic wave with a frequency range of 300GHZ widely used in radio communication and in
applications such as heating. RF waves along with FM waves, microwaves, visible light and heat
come under non ionizing radiation. RF does not cause cancer. These waves are different from
radiations i.e. x rays, gamma rays and UV rays. These radiations can destroy the chemical bonds that
make up DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid). At higher levels the RF waves can raise the temperature of the
body. But the RF waves emitted by the cell phones are generally of lower energy level and hence it
does not affect body temperature. 2. How are people exposed to RF waves? RF waves require more
energy for long distance transmission. The energy at the transmitting antenna in cellphone will greater
than the energy received by the receiving antenna of the cellphone (loss of energy during long distance
transmission). When a customer communicates using cellphone which is in contact with their ear
(either left or right) the maximum energy at the transmitting antenna of the cellphone during
communication will be directly absorbed by that ear. The ear that is closest to the phone will absorb
more energy that the ear that farther away. It also depends on factors such as: 1. Amount of time the
cellphone is being used

Dopaminergic Observation
Though it is believed that the loss of dopaminergic innervation is the cardinal neurotransmitter system
involving in PD, other systems of innervation such as serotonergic, cholinergic and glutamatergic
innervations are also involved in the pathogenesis of PD16. The serotonergic transmission is thought
to be heavily affected due to the non physiological administration of L DOPA during the treatment of
PD17.After exogenous administration of L DOPA, it is meant to be converted by the nigrostriatal
dopaminergic neurons that contain a large amount of DA converting decarboxylase enzyme. However,
as dopaminergic neurons are heavilydenervatedin PD, 5 HT neurons are then primarily responsible for
the conversion and the release of DA after the exogenously ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Dampening serotonergic activity with 5 HT1A can prevent the exocytotic release of dopamine from
serotonergic terminals17,26.Though it is thought that DA is released from serotonergic innervations
from all the brain areas including the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, substantia nigraand striatum, the
striatum is believed to be responsible for LID because of the source of the major release of DA from L
DOPA from the abundant serotonergic innervation24,25.Therefore, my proposal includes reducing
dysregulated serotonergic activity specifically in the striatum with local striatal administration of 5
HT1A agonist in a PD mouse model. Whereas most of the other studies focus on treating dyskinesia
with 5 HT1A agonist when LID is already developed in PD17,20,my research proposal will target on
the prevention of dyskinesia while giving a L DOPA treatment for PD. For this purpose, I hypothesize
that co administration of a specific5 HT1Aagonist with L DOPA may reduce the dysregulation of
dopamine and could potentially produce the effectsof L DOPA treatment for PD without the

Speakers In Marlowes Passionate Shepherd And The Nymph s...
The speakers in Marlowe s Passionate Shepherd and Raleigh s The Nymph s Reply have different
views of love. The shepherd believes that love is a pleasurable emotion that should only be
experienced in nature. This concept of love is illustrated in the verses Come live with me and be my
love/And we will all the pleasures prove/That valleys, groves, hills, and fields,/Woods, or steepy
mountain yields. (lines 1 4). He wants to, ensure that love is forever lasting, it will always be around
and it will never die. On the contrary, the Nymph replies to the Shepherd was that love will eventually
die because everything does and love is no different. That love can t stay young because if it were, that
would mean that everything in the world would live forever and the world wouldn t function that way.
Her reply to the Shepherd in Raleigh s story was If all the world and love were young/And the truth in
every shepherd s tongue/These pretty pleasures might me move/To live with thee, and be thy love.
(lines 1 4). The speakers in Marlowe s Passionate Shepherd and Raleigh s The Nymph s Reply have
different views of Nature. The shepherd wants to express his views to the Nymph that nature is
beautiful, young and everlasting. He wants some kind of love like that in which he expresses through
nature, he tells her that he wants to sit with her by the rocks and watch the shepherd as they feed their
flocks. Also, watch the birds and hear them sing in the sky, to embrace and

Gibbons V. Ogden (1824)
In America s time there have been many great men who have spent their lives creating this great
country. Men such as George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson fit these roles. They are
deemed America s founding fathers and laid the support for the most powerful country in history.
However, one more man deserves his name to be etched into this list. His name was John Marshall,
who decided case after case during his role as Chief Justice that has left an everlasting mark on today s
judiciary, and even society itself. Through Cases such as Marbury v. Madison (1803) and McCulloch
v. Maryland (1819) he established the Judicial Branch as an independent power. One case in
particular, named Gibbons v. Ogden (1824), displayed his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The decision finally came by John Marshall and his Supreme Court on March 2, 1824. Marshall had
decided that because the Constitution declared Federal law supremacy, any law passed by Congress
should be the superior force. However, only those State laws that conflicted with Federal laws and
jurisdiction, therefore deemed unconstitutional, should be rejected. Therefore, States had the power to
regulate their own trade, such as the southern slaves, but the Federal Government had the final say,
and ultimately, supreme power. Congress henceforth could control intra and interstate commerce as
the Constitution specified. Marshall s decision was none other than extraordinary. He had single
handedly prevented further debate over slavery (for the meantime, anyhow), and satisfied any
contention with Federal jurisdiction. He had, once again, made a very historic decision that would see
itself all the way through America s lifespan. Historically, Marshall supported Federalism, as he had in
other cases such as Marbury v. Madison (1803). This would carry the country further from a loose
collection of States into a National Power to be reckoned with. Also, by putting off the slavery issue
again, he extended the amount of time before there eventually would be an outbreak over the issue. He
and the others knew the day would come, but they would deal with it at that later time; probably by
use of arms. For his contributions to the

Sexism In Today s Society
Everyday all over the world even in the land of the free there is at least a couple hundred of woman
and men who get added into the list of sexism victims. I am pretty sure every person on this plant has
been added into that list. I think everyone should be aware of this and should prevent this act from
damaging another human being. Thanks to movements such as Feminism which is the belief of social,
political, and economic equality of the sexes. Because of feminism you girls and boys are
understanding and fixing gender roles. I believe because of this discrimination it can cause someone to
feel bad about doing or feeling something that makes them happy or making them feel unaccepted. In
today s society there are plenty of acts of sexism towards women still going on, and nobody really
does anything to stop this from happening. An example of one of the many acts of sexism towards
women today is Institutional sexism. It has been said that Women make 77 cent for every dollar a man

Behavior Of Rural Consumers Towards Mobile Phones Essay
AN ANALYTIC STUDY TO EVALUATE BEHAVIOUR OF RURAL CONSUMERS TOWARDS
MOBILE PHONES
1.0 Introduction The future lies with those companies who see the poor as their customers
C.K.Prahalad
Villages are an integral part of nation. They become even more important in the Asian and African
context, where a majority of population is residing in rural areas.
For centuries the rural world in India was static as a self sufficient unit of production and
consumption, but it is no longer so. The rural setting is changing every day, with the corporate sector
acting both as the carrier and bearer of the consequences of this change which is happening at an
accelerating rate. Demographic profiles and spending patterns in rural India too are changing and
marketers have to junk their old perception about rural India. Rural consumers who were on the
receiving end so far are now gradually getting into position to dictate terms for the first time. Although
there is a long way to go, the beginning has already been made.
Corporate world needs to realize that, to be successful in the rural market, they must go in with a clear
long term strategy. There must be a willingness to invest in rural market with as much energy as they
utilise to build brands in the urban one. Since rural efforts take longer to give sustained results, they
must be prepared for a long haul. Short term efforts may not deliver the desired results on a sustained
basis in rural areas.

now has a market value of almost $30 million, and does seem to be stopping growth (Nike Inc, 2017).
Created in 1964, Nike has continuously grown adding many diffusion lines to their brand to be more
distinct for different sports. Not only does Nike encompass almost all sports, but also they have

by celebrities makes Nike a desirable product. A demand that is worldwide requires employees that
are willing work around the clock, are paid less than minimum wage, and even employed children

get their product distributed. Nike made a huge mistake trying to cut cost by exploiting workers in
south Asian countries. Their ethical integrity was compromised and many consumers would not buy
from Nike, however now years later Nike has revamped their image with foundations and a traceable
supply chain. Hopefully, these measures Nike have taken will prevent any further ethical issues in the

Three Years She Grew And There Will Come Soft Rain
Most people never understand the importance of literary devices. In almost every poem these devices
are used portray things in different ways. In most poems you can see similarities through the literary
devices used by the author. The three poems, Three Years She Grew by William Wordsworth, There
Will Come Soft Rain by Sara Teasdale, and The Sound of Night by Maxine Kumin, the only similarity
to the common eye is nature, but if the reader analyses more in depth, they will be able to see they all
use literary devices to explain how humans interact and balance powers differently throughout their
coexistence with nature. In the first poem, Three Years She Grew , nature is like an overprotecting
mother figure. Nature has all the power over this young girl and uses this power to shape her into a
beautiful young women. The quote, And beauty born of murmuring sound Shall pass into her face
shows how nature gave the gift of beauty to this girl, because nature cares deeply for her like a mother
would (Wordsword29 30). The main literary device that Wordsworth uses metaphors, he is
metaphorically using nature as a mother figure. This is also represented in the lines ... Show more

Kumin describes nature as alive and noisy at night and more calm and peaceful during the day. One of
the lines that shows this is, Wide lipped, noisy as ducks, drunk on the boozy black, gloating chink
chunk , the author uses onomatopoeia to create a vivid atmosphere of sounds. In this poem, unlike the
other, humans and nature have a balanced relationship where they live in harmony together. They live
in peace with no overpowering side that wants to control the other. Maxine Kumin uses the devices
like onomatopoeia and imagery to display a sense of unison between the humans and nature, showing
how the power of literary devices can create any type of relationship depending on how the author

The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of
weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an
important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the
composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used
various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the
WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the
introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal
microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite,
polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular
ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as
dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the
acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium
oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic
element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of

An Example Of The Cocktail Party And Inattentional Blindness
We think important objects and events in our world will automatically grab our attention, but they
often don t, particularly when our attention is focused on something else. Cocktail Party Effect
describes the ability to focus your hearing on one specific thing even though noise is all around you. It
is named such because this occurs when you are at a party you can focus on the conversation you are
having with the person close to you and can ignore all the other noise and conversation going on
around you. Your brain helps you selectively focus on the person you are talking too and mutes the
other conversation, music, and general noise around you. Whereas, the failure to notice unexpected
objects or events when attention is focused elsewhere is now known as inattentional blindness. The
interface between attention and consciousness are examples of the Cocktail party and Inattentional
blindness.
Per the website, Psychology.wikia, the cocktail party effect is an example of selective attention and is
the phenomenon of being able to focus one s auditory attention on a stimulus while filtering out a
range of other stimuli, much the same way that a partygoer can focus on a single conversation in a
noisy room. This effect is what allows most people to tune in to a single voice and tune out all others.
It may also describe a similar phenomenon that occurs when one may immediately detect words of
importance originating from unattended stimuli, for instance hearing one s name in

Hiv And The Prevalence Of Hiv Essay
HIV In Adolescents
Shavon Q Frasier
Delaware Technical and Community College
Abstract
According to the CDC, In the United States the prevalence of HIV in adolescents from age 13 24 is
estimated to account for 22% of all new cases (cdc.gov 2016). Of those cases, the most new cases
occurred among gay and bisexual males. Furthermore young African American and Latino gay and
bisexual males have been affected in higher numbers than any other group. Addressing HIV in our
youth entails multiple avenues to curtail the rising numbers. Including, but not limited to, education,
tools for risk reduction, healthy decisions, effective communication, as well as treatment and care.
How did our nation s youth reach this point? How can change be implemented? The following will
discuss the trends and statistics on the prevalence of HIV in our youth as well as the efforts being
made to decrease the numbers of newly reported cases.

How Does Proton Pump Acid Affects The Body
Nutrition and lifestyle can change the body s response to drugs; conversely, a nutrient drug interaction
also affects the nutritional content in the body. Drugs may also change food absorption and
metabolism in the body. Some drugs can increase GI motility, increasing or decreasing food digestion.
Other drugs decrease GI motility. Some drugs are better tolerated if taken with food.1
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are one of the most important drugs in order to treat gastrointestinal
diseases. Proton pump inhibitors are a group of drugs whose main action is reduction of stomach acid
production. 2
Iron is an essential mineral in the body and there is iron in all cells in the body. It is the mineral that
should be in our diet, it is necessary for transport of oxygen through hemoglobin. Iron is also vital for
oxidation by cell.3 Dietary iron consist of two forms: heme or organic iron is found in animal product
such as meat and fish which attached to proteins called heme proteins. None heme iron is found in
vegetable such as bean and spinach. Heme iron is typically absorbed at a higher rate (20%) rather than
non heme iron (2%).4 Hydrochloride (HCl) secretes in order to help digestion of the food at beginning

Rewarding Transformational Leadership and Active...
The results of the study suggested that rewarding transformational leadership and active management
by exception functioned as protecting factors. It also pointed to passive laissez faire leadership as an
exposing factor in terms of burnout among nursing staff. One of the limitations to the study is that data
was gathered using self administered measures; with no objective measures used to assess leadership
and burnout. The data was also cross sectional in nature therefore conclusions cannot be drawn
regarding the direction of casualty among multidimensional leadership and burnout. A research study

The results of the focused interview revealed that the major stress related factors in the ICUs pointed
to: shortages of knowledgeable nurses, absenteeism, doctors demands, and lack of support from
management as well as colleagues, and the stress caused by temporary nurses acquired from the
agencies. Recommendations were made towards nursing unit management, further nursing research,
and nursing education. The limitations to this study are that the female participants are in the majority
compared to the male participants and the sample size was rather limited in number, which limits the
potential to generalize the results of this research. Ounder Basim surveyed 248 nurses from five
hospitals in turkey in 2007 to identify the occupational burnout profiles of a sample of nurses, and to
examine alternative developmental models based on these profiles. The Maslach Burnout Inventory
was used to collect burnout data, and the Job descriptive index was used to measure satisfaction with
coworkers and supervisors. The results of the study revealed that a higher level of emotional
exhaustion was invariably associated with higher level of depersonalization. However, higher
emotional exhaustion or depersonalization is not always associated with lower accomplishment. It was
concluded that hospital managers should be watchful for emotional exhaustion rather than
depersonalization or perceptions of personal

Cleopatra the queen of the Nile: When I think back to Roman and Egyptian times the first name that
comes to mind is Cleopatra. I envy her for many reasons. She was a great ruler, she had riches, she
had fame and most of all she had an epic love story. There were not many female rulers or females
with power when you look into history. Cleopatra is an example of many things, and is the epitome of
a powerful historical female. Her name is synomious with beauty, power, intrigue and ultimately
tragedy.
In 69 BC Cleopatra was born into an Egyptian dynasty. A dynasty in decline and under the protection
of Rome. At the young age of 18 she assumed the throne along with one ... Show more content on

Her dynasty was over, and she proved to be the last pharaoh. With her death Cleopatra has achieved
immortality through the personal story of love and tragedy. When we think of Cleopatra we
automatically think of this story. But upon the research I learned that there were others and she was
actually Cleopatra 7. Many books, plays, movies and stories have been made about the great queen of
the Nile. Some tell us different sides of the story. Each have a little bit of difference in them so who
really knows which one to believe. One thing is certain; Cleopatra was a great female ruler for her 22
years as the Egyptian queen. Ironically enough she wasn t even Egyptian or roman for that matter. She
and her family were Greek. There are also many works that suggest that she was not a very pretty
woman. Cleopatra s happiness didn t last, which seems that just like in all love stories her life doesn t
have a happy ending. Another side of the story is that Marc killed himself after being surrounded by
Octavia s troops, and then Cleopatra being held prisoner which is why she killed herself. I was very
intrigued by each story that I read of Cleopatra s life and death and her rule, and I feel like I learned a
lot. I think I will go on to watch some of the movies to see them played

The History of Eiffel Tower
An icon of Paris, the Eiffel Tower symbolizes the French capital unlike any other architectural
monument. It has become impossible to imagine the city without the Eiffel Tower, and yet when it was
constructed for the Paris World s Fair in 1889, it was hugely controversial. The iron edifice was
originally intended to be a temporary construction, designed to symbolize French industrial prowess
as a showcase for the World s Fair. Once it served its purpose, Parisian residents hoped the
monumental mass would be torn down. Yet the advent of radio technology extended the life of Eiffel s
tower. As the tallest building in the world at the time, the structure was readily repurposed as a radio
tower.
Eiffel s design could not have been selected for its double role, as radio technology was not yet a
consideration in 1889. Out of the over a hundred other entries into the World s Fair competition, Eiffel
s won in part because of its grandeur and ostentatiousness. After all, the World s Fair was a showcase
to the Industrial Age: and a way for individual countries to prove their supremacy as technological
powers. The display of technological prowess served distinct cultural roles: such as the means by
which French national identity could become more cohesive. As the tallest building in the world for
nearly 40 years, the Eiffel Tower showed the world that Paris, France was a hub of progress. Another
reason why the design was selected was because the use of iron represented a revolutionary

Cultural Issues Created by the Prohibition Era.
While the prohibition movement of the early twentieth century was brought on with a wholesome and
moral mindset, the economic, political, and cultural factors relating to its origins and enactment
untimely doomed it for failure. Such groups as the Women s Christian Temperance Union and the
progressive party argued that drinking was the cause of political corruption, crime, bad labor
conditions, and a declining sense of family values. These groups protests and rallies gained enormous
support quickly for a constitution amendment as early as 1913 with the Jubilee Convention. Before the
Eighteenth Amendment officially declared the U.S as a dry country, prohibition was already in effect
in a majority of states and counties. By the time the amendment took effect in January of 1920, three
of every four Americans lived in a dry county; and due to the enactment of the Webb Kenyon Act of
1913 outlawing the shipment of alcohol into dry states, the amendment caused little change in the
lives of many Americans. Many hoped that prohibition would be the moral reform that would
regenerate society; however, it resulted in more corruption and organized crime. Unperceived
economic factors relating to bootlegging, taxes, and police enforcement heavily contributed to the
demise of the prohibition era. As soon as the eighteenth amendment took effect a ring of bootlegging
and organized gangs emerged. In addition to many of these bootleggers brewing their own moonshine
to sell, several

Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA)
The Electronic Communications Privacy Act ( ECPA ) was passed in 1986 to update the 1968 Title III
Wiretap Act, the federal statute that first prohibited the actual or intentional interception
communications without judicial authorization (Wiretap Act, 1968). The 1968 act only concerned wire
and oral communications; a wire communication was defined as any communication made in whole or
in part through the use of [common carrier] facilities for the [interstate or foreign] transmission of
communications by the aid of wire, cable, or other like connection between the point of origin and the
point of reception, and oral communication was defined as any oral communication uttered by a
person exhibiting an expectation [of privacy]. ECPA sought to amend the Wiretap Act in order to
accommodate privacy protections for the increasingly prolific use of electronic devices in
communications between citizens that do not apply to the original definitions (Comm. on the
Judiciary, 1986). ECPA consisted of three titles: the first title amended the 1968 Wiretap Act, the
second title addressed stored communications, and the title addressed pen registers and trap and trace
devices. Title I of ECPA introduces the term electronic communication defined as any communication
not carried by sound waves and [those that] cannot fairly be categorized as containing the human
voice with four explicit exceptions to this definition (ECPA, 1986). The first exception was for any

Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene
A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb the
water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this, it is first
necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead to polymers
properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to illustrate the
connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be explained,
followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used to show why
Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle.
A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called monomers. A
polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers (Smith et al.,
2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements such as Oxygen,
Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made synthetically, such
as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being investigated are. Polylactic
acid is made naturally and Polypropylene is made synthetically. Polymers can be three dimensional
networks which don t melt such as epoxy resin, and are called thermoset polymers, two dimensional
or one dimensional networks or chains which can be melted such as polypropylene called
thermoplastic polymers

The remains may be because of diseases, therefore, there is a danger that the diseases passed to the

When human beings feed on the animals, they also have a risk of contaminating the disease. No
governmental laws have been established that ensure animals in farms treated accordingly. Farmers
have the right their animals in the way they please. Since we depend on animals for a number of uses,
it is logical that the animals should be treated well. Animals used for food and other products should
be provided with proper treatment even though they will be killed in the end. Nonetheless, during their
lifetime they should be handled with care and concern. Therefore, proper laws should be applied to
farmers to ensure proper treatment given to animals.
Animal welfare should also be applied in the community, within the community animals are used in

Banishment In The Knight s Tale

Knight s Tale starts out with the description of the king of Athens and former Minotaur slayer,

comforting women at the beginning of the story who were weeping over the loss of their children to

Analysis Of Michael Hoffman s The Best Of Me
I love who I am when I m with you, Amanda. You are my dearest friend, my deepest love. You are the
very best of me. (Dawson). Everyone wants a love similar to Amanda s and Dawson s, in Michael
Hoffman s The Best of Me. This analysis will explore how flashbacks show the characters background
and history, the plot is based on the growth of the characters, and the irony of specific points in the
movie. Michael Hoffman s The Best of Me is relevant today, because love does not occur in isolation
with only two people. In addition to a couple s own responses to life situations, pressures from
outsiders both positive and negative, are placed on every couple.
Michael Hoffman uses flashbacks to show the setting and specific events that occurred twenty one
years ago. Through the flashbacks you can see why the characters act the way that they do. The
audience is presented with background information and past experiences. The flashbacks show how
being back where Dawson and Amanda first met each other and fell in love effects their emotions in
the present. Reliving their past by eating at Tuck s house, Dawson giving Amanda the same type of
flower, and spending the afternoon and night at the cottage shows the audience how their feelings for
each other had never gone away, but were only repressed until then. You want me to fall back in love

Examples Of Invasive Species In Ontario
Introduced species are seldom a positive addition to an ecosystem as they cause great stress and harm
to the populations of native species. Many introduced species become invasive as they have no natural
predators in their new environment, therefore they thrive, and crowd out all other animals. Some
examples of invasive species in Ontario waters include the round goby, zebra mussels, eurasian ruffe,
goldfish, northern snakehead, rainbow smelt, and rudd, to name a few. A great example to show how
destructive an introduced fish can be is the asian carp, this species spreads very aggressively and it is
considered the greatest threat to aquatic ecosystems in Ontario. These fish grow to be very large in
size, up to 40 kg and 1 meter long. The asian

The Word-Pregnancy Model Of The Logogen Model
Word recognition is the reader s ability to correctly identify words without needing contextual aid.
People tend to recognize words faster if they are more frequent (i.e. more common in their everyday
language), a psychological phenomenon known as the word frequency effect. An example of a high
frequency word is the , whereas promiscuous , for instance, is a low frequency word. Similarly, people
tend to be better at correctly recognizing letters within words compared to isolated letters and to
orthographically illegal strings (i.e. nonwords, such as SUT ). This is known as the word superiority
effect.
Many models attempt to explain the different phenomena that arose as a result of studying reading.
The logogen model (Morton, 1969) aims to explain the word frequency effect in terms of low or high
thresholds. Each logogen contains a number of characteristics about given words, such as meaning,
appearance and sound. A logogen will be activated by psychological stimuli or contextual information
that triggers the most characteristics. When the activation level rises above the threshold level, that
word is selected. As there is no comparison between logogens, more than one response can be
triggered by one stimulus. High frequency words (those most commonly used), have a lower
threshold, meaning that they require less perceptual power to recognize and decode from the mental
lexicon, than low frequency words. Once the threshold is fired, the meaning

By providing such description, the listener can clearly see how much the girl wants to be hurt how
desperately she wants to freeze to death. This shows how the boy must hurt her to the greatest extents,
in order to stop her from liking him. As can be seen, it is difficult to want someone you cannot have
you will do anything to move on and end the struggle. Sound Structural Devices: Landfill also uses
many forms of sound and structural devices. For example, it uses parallel structure in the first stanza:
Throw me in the landfill Don t think about the consequences Throw me in the dirt pit Don t think
about the choices that you make Throw me in the water Don t think about the splash I will create (1 6)
By repeating the beginning of each verse with Throw me and Don t think, it emphasizes how strongly
the girl wants her lover to hurt her. She wants him to make her feel worthless, so she can lose all
feelings of love toward him. She only wants to have feelings of hate. This supports the theme because
it displays the requirement of being hurt several times, in order to get over someone you

Temple Grandin Theme
Temple Grandin: A Story of Perservearence Temple Grandin and Invictus are excellent films in their
own right. Both share themes of sacrifice, courage, and acceptance. The storytelling in each is very
different however. Temple Grandin is one persons account of her life with autism and life s work.
Invictus is a much larger story involving a whole country, and the turbulent history it s new President
desperately wanted to change for the people. Although these movies are both well written and acted,
Temple Grandin is the best overall firm because the story is focused, relevant and provides an
uplifting story of perseverance and hope. The movie Temple Grandin allows the viewer to relate to the
very personal struggles and triumphs Temple experiences as she navigates through school and her
career being someone with Autism. Autism itself is a relevant topic ... Show more content on

The United States has continued issues with racial inequity among citizens. Deep divides between
races are seen in the Invictus film. Many americans can relate to the feelings of anger and fear
expressed in the film. Although Invictus is relatable, the feelings of frustration, personal challenge,
and loneliness expressed in Temple Grandin and more universal. Temple Grandin deals with these
feelings and also touches on a relevant topic today. Autism cases across the U.S. are increasing in
children. With all the technology we have access to, researchers still cannot provide a conclusive
cause for this rise. Speculative reasons are entertained such as environmental toxins, advanced
maternal age, or changes in agriculture cultivation. For families struggling with autism, the movie
Temple Grandin is hopeful and uplifting. For people who were previously unfamiliar with autism, It
shows a snapshot of one persons experience with autism and what it may look like. At it s core it is a
beautiful story of a woman born with challenges and the tenacity to overcome them; this theme is

Existential Psychotherapy Is Based Upon The Fundamental...
Existential psychotherapy is based upon the fundamental belief that each individual experiences
psychological and emotional difficulties. These psychological and emotional difficulties are viewed as
inner conflicts due to his or her interaction with certain conditions inherent in human existence called
givens. The theory recognizes at least four primary existential givens: freedom and associated
responsibility, death, isolation, meaninglessness (Corey, 2017, pp. 144). In therapy, the client
discovers how to incorporate the paradoxes around these concerns, and thereby increase tolerance of
the anxiety that may be associated with them. Personal responsibility and choice is emphasized, and
focus is more on the here and now . Increased mindful awareness is crucial in becoming more healthy
and fully functioning. A confrontation with any of these givens fills an individual with existential
anxiety. This anxiety is thought to reduce a person s psychological, physical, social, and spiritual
awareness, which may lead to significant long term consequences. For example, many individuals
have learned throughout their lives that each human being and their loved ones will eventually die, but
the day and time this will happen to anyone is unknown. The fact that this information is unknown
may bring people tremendous feelings of anxiety which may lead certain people to ignore the present
reality and become fixated on death and human existence. However, through existential therapy it is

My Father Is A Positive Father
When I was five years old my parents got a divorce. My father was abusive towards me on many
occasions and was known to cheat on my mom. I remember him getting mad at me one time, he
proceeded to kick me multiple times with cowboy boots on. It was so bad I could not sit down for a
week. He would not play a significant role in my life going forward. ...children with abusive fathers
may disengage from their fathers, preferring to distance and buffer themselves from the harmful
effects of negative paternal involvement (Dick,2005). Not having a positive father figure present in
my life, has negatively affected my life in countless ways. It was around middle childhood (Industry
vs Inferiority stage), that repercussions begin to become present. I can remember not knowing how to
walk confidently. This may sound ridiculous to many, but I did not know how to walk like a man.
When my father had exited my life as a child, it did not imprint on me how to walk. I was unable to
identify how to walk like a man. I grew up in a household of women and I can remember specifically,
not trying to walk like them. There was an insecurity in the way I did walk, and I can remember on
many occasions of that being brought to my attention. I remember being envious of my friends whose
parents were still together. Contradictory of today, majority of married couples with children stayed
together back then (McLanahan, 1995). It had become so foreign to me, what a father was even like.

  • 7. The Possible Links Between Cellphone Uses and Tumors 1. How do cellphones work? These work by the signals which are transmitted to and can be received from the base station (usually located close by) through RF wave. RF wave is a type of electromagnetic wave with a frequency range of 300GHZ widely used in radio communication and in applications such as heating. RF waves along with FM waves, microwaves, visible light and heat come under non ionizing radiation. RF does not cause cancer. These waves are different from radiations i.e. x rays, gamma rays and UV rays. These radiations can destroy the chemical bonds that make up DNA (Deoxyribonucleic acid). At higher levels the RF waves can raise the temperature of the body. But the RF waves emitted by the cell phones are generally of lower energy level and hence it does not affect body temperature. 2. How are people exposed to RF waves? RF waves require more energy for long distance transmission. The energy at the transmitting antenna in cellphone will greater than the energy received by the receiving antenna of the cellphone (loss of energy during long distance transmission). When a customer communicates using cellphone which is in contact with their ear (either left or right) the maximum energy at the transmitting antenna of the cellphone during communication will be directly absorbed by that ear. The ear that is closest to the phone will absorb more energy that the ear that farther away. It also depends on factors such as: 1. Amount of time the cellphone is being used ... The serotonergic transmission is thought to be heavily affected due to the non physiological administration of L DOPA during the treatment of PD17.After exogenous administration of L DOPA, it is meant to be converted by the nigrostriatal dopaminergic neurons that contain a large amount of DA converting decarboxylase enzyme. (lines 1 4). He wants to, ensure that love is forever lasting, it will always be around and it will never die. On the contrary, the Nymph replies to the Shepherd was that love will eventually die because everything does and love is no different. Men such as George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson fit these roles. They are deemed America s founding fathers and laid the support for the most powerful country in history. However, one more man deserves his name to be etched into this list. His name was John Marshall, who decided case after case during his role as Chief Justice that has left an everlasting mark on today s judiciary, and even society itself. Through Cases such as Marbury v. Madison (1803) and McCulloch v. Maryland (1819) he established the Judicial Branch as an independent power. One case in particular, named Gibbons v. Marshall had decided that because the Constitution declared Federal law supremacy, any law passed by Congress should be the superior force. However, only those State laws that conflicted with Federal laws and jurisdiction, therefore deemed unconstitutional, should be rejected. Therefore, States had the power to regulate their own trade, such as the southern slaves, but the Federal Government had the final say, and ultimately, supreme power. Congress henceforth could control intra and interstate commerce as the Constitution specified. Marshall s decision was none other than extraordinary. He had single handedly prevented further debate over slavery (for the meantime, anyhow), and satisfied any contention with Federal jurisdiction. He had, once again, made a very historic decision that would see itself all the way through America s lifespan. Historically, Marshall supported Federalism, as he had in other cases such as Marbury v. Madison (1803). This would carry the country further from a loose collection of States into a National Power to be reckoned with. Behavior Of Rural Consumers Towards Mobile Phones Essay AN ANALYTIC STUDY TO EVALUATE BEHAVIOUR OF RURAL CONSUMERS TOWARDS MOBILE PHONES 1.0 Introduction The future lies with those companies who see the poor as their customers C.K.Prahalad Villages are an integral part of nation. They become even more important in the Asian and African context, where a majority of population is residing in rural areas. For centuries the rural world in India was static as a self sufficient unit of production and consumption, but it is no longer so. The rural setting is changing every day, with the corporate sector acting both as the carrier and bearer of the consequences of this change which is happening at an accelerating rate. Demographic profiles and spending patterns in rural India too are changing and marketers have to junk their old perception about rural India. Rural consumers who were on the receiving end so far are now gradually getting into position to dictate terms for the first time. Although there is a long way to go, the beginning has already been made. Corporate world needs to realize that, to be successful in the rural market, they must go in with a clear long term strategy. There must be a willingness to invest in rural market with as much energy as they utilise to build brands in the urban one. Since rural efforts take longer to give sustained results, they must be prepared for a long haul. Short term efforts may not deliver the desired results on a sustained basis in rural areas. A ... In almost every poem these devices are used portray things in different ways. In most poems you can see similarities through the literary devices used by the author. The three poems, Three Years She Grew by William Wordsworth, There Will Come Soft Rain by Sara Teasdale, and The Sound of Night by Maxine Kumin, the only similarity to the common eye is nature, but if the reader analyses more in depth, they will be able to see they all use literary devices to explain how humans interact and balance powers differently throughout their coexistence with nature. In the first poem, Three Years She Grew , nature is like an overprotecting mother figure. Nature has all the power over this young girl and uses this power to shape her into a beautiful young women. The quote, And beauty born of murmuring sound Shall pass into her face shows how nature gave the gift of beauty to this girl, because nature cares deeply for her like a mother would (Wordsword29 30). The mechanical properties of the welded joint are determined by the microstructural behavior of weldmetal [2]. It is well established that alloying elements such as Ti, Ni, B, Mo, Cr etc play an important role for microstructural development [3]. Therefore, it is very essential to manipulate the composition of welding consumables for the optimum joint properties. Previous researchers have used various procedures to manipulate weld metal composition. Two major approaches for improving the WM properties are to use of different types of flux and another one is to alter WM composition by the introduce of newer filler material or by metal powder addition in WM [4]. Generally, weldmetal microstructure of conventional low alloy steel consists of varying amounts of acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, widmanstatten ferrite and M A microphases. It has been reported that the acicular ferrite provide the optimum microstructure to the welds because of its fine grain size, as well as dislocation density and reducing crack propagation[2]. One of the useful methods for promoting the acicular ferrite formation in SAW is the enrichment of various oxides into the flux such as titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, boron oxide. These oxides in the flux may contribute to different metallic element dissolution and oxygen into the weld [5]. Evans et al. [6] studied the effect of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

An Example Of The Cocktail Party And Inattentional Blindness We think important objects and events in our world will automatically grab our attention, but they often don t, particularly when our attention is focused on something else. Cocktail Party Effect describes the ability to focus your hearing on one specific thing even though noise is all around you. It is named such because this occurs when you are at a party you can focus on the conversation you are having with the person close to you and can ignore all the other noise and conversation going on around you. Your brain helps you selectively focus on the person you are talking too and mutes the other conversation, music, and general noise around you. Whereas, the failure to notice unexpected objects or events when attention is focused elsewhere is now known as inattentional blindness. The interface between attention and consciousness are examples of the Cocktail party and Inattentional blindness. Per the website, Psychology.wikia, the cocktail party effect is an example of selective attention and is the phenomenon of being able to focus one s auditory attention on a stimulus while filtering out a range of other stimuli, much the same way that a partygoer can focus on a single conversation in a noisy room. It has become impossible to imagine the city without the Eiffel Tower, and yet when it was constructed for the Paris World s Fair in 1889, it was hugely controversial. The iron edifice was originally intended to be a temporary construction, designed to symbolize French industrial prowess as a showcase for the World s Fair. Once it served its purpose, Parisian residents hoped the monumental mass would be torn down. Yet the advent of radio technology extended the life of Eiffel s tower. As the tallest building in the world at the time, the structure was readily repurposed as a radio tower. Eiffel s design could not have been selected for its double role, as radio technology was not yet a consideration in 1889. Out of the over a hundred other entries into the World s Fair competition, Eiffel s won in part because of its grandeur and ostentatiousness. After all, the World s Fair was a showcase to the Industrial Age: and a way for individual countries to prove their supremacy as technological powers. The display of technological prowess served distinct cultural roles: such as the means by which French national identity could become more cohesive. • 31. Cultural Issues Created by the Prohibition Era. While the prohibition movement of the early twentieth century was brought on with a wholesome and moral mindset, the economic, political, and cultural factors relating to its origins and enactment untimely doomed it for failure. Such groups as the Women s Christian Temperance Union and the progressive party argued that drinking was the cause of political corruption, crime, bad labor conditions, and a declining sense of family values. These groups protests and rallies gained enormous support quickly for a constitution amendment as early as 1913 with the Jubilee Convention. Before the Eighteenth Amendment officially declared the U.S as a dry country, prohibition was already in effect in a majority of states and counties. By the time the amendment took effect in January of 1920, three of every four Americans lived in a dry county; and due to the enactment of the Webb Kenyon Act of 1913 outlawing the shipment of alcohol into dry states, the amendment caused little change in the lives of many Americans. Many hoped that prohibition would be the moral reform that would regenerate society; however, it resulted in more corruption and organized crime. Unperceived economic factors relating to bootlegging, taxes, and police enforcement heavily contributed to the demise of the prohibition era. The 1968 act only concerned wire and oral communications; a wire communication was defined as any communication made in whole or in part through the use of [common carrier] facilities for the [interstate or foreign] transmission of communications by the aid of wire, cable, or other like connection between the point of origin and the point of reception, and oral communication was defined as any oral communication uttered by a person exhibiting an expectation [of privacy]. These factors will be used to show why Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle. A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called monomers. A polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers (Smith et al., 2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made synthetically, such as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being investigated are. Polylactic acid is made naturally and Polypropylene is made synthetically. Polymers can be three dimensional networks which don t melt such as epoxy resin, and are called thermoset polymers, two dimensional or one dimensional networks or chains which can be melted such as polypropylene called thermoplastic polymers ... • 42. Analysis Of Michael Hoffman s The Best Of Me I love who I am when I m with you, Amanda. You are my dearest friend, my deepest love. You are the very best of me. (Dawson). Everyone wants a love similar to Amanda s and Dawson s, in Michael Hoffman s The Best of Me. This analysis will explore how flashbacks show the characters background and history, the plot is based on the growth of the characters, and the irony of specific points in the movie. Michael Hoffman s The Best of Me is relevant today, because love does not occur in isolation with only two people. In addition to a couple s own responses to life situations, pressures from outsiders both positive and negative, are placed on every couple. Michael Hoffman uses flashbacks to show the setting and specific events that occurred twenty one years ago. Through the flashbacks you can see why the characters act the way that they do. The audience is presented with background information and past experiences. The flashbacks show how being back where Dawson and Amanda first met each other and fell in love effects their emotions in the present. Reliving their past by eating at Tuck s house, Dawson giving Amanda the same type of flower, and spending the afternoon and night at the cottage shows the audience how their feelings for each other had never gone away, but were only repressed until then. • 44. The Word-Pregnancy Model Of The Logogen Model Word recognition is the reader s ability to correctly identify words without needing contextual aid. People tend to recognize words faster if they are more frequent (i.e. more common in their everyday language), a psychological phenomenon known as the word frequency effect. An example of a high frequency word is the , whereas promiscuous , for instance, is a low frequency word. Similarly, people tend to be better at correctly recognizing letters within words compared to isolated letters and to orthographically illegal strings (i.e. nonwords, such as SUT ). This is known as the word superiority effect. Many models attempt to explain the different phenomena that arose as a result of studying reading. The logogen model (Morton, 1969) aims to explain the word frequency effect in terms of low or high thresholds. Each logogen contains a number of characteristics about given words, such as meaning, appearance and sound. A logogen will be activated by psychological stimuli or contextual information that triggers the most characteristics. When the activation level rises above the threshold level, that word is selected. As there is no comparison between logogens, more than one response can be triggered by one stimulus. High frequency words (those most commonly used), have a lower threshold, meaning that they require less perceptual power to recognize and decode from the mental lexicon, than low frequency words. Once the threshold is fired, the meaning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. Existential Psychotherapy Is Based Upon The Fundamental... Existential psychotherapy is based upon the fundamental belief that each individual experiences psychological and emotional difficulties. These psychological and emotional difficulties are viewed as inner conflicts due to his or her interaction with certain conditions inherent in human existence called givens. The theory recognizes at least four primary existential givens: freedom and associated responsibility, death, isolation, meaninglessness (Corey, 2017, pp. 144). In therapy, the client discovers how to incorporate the paradoxes around these concerns, and thereby increase tolerance of the anxiety that may be associated with them. Personal responsibility and choice is emphasized, and focus is more on the here and now . Increased mindful awareness is crucial in becoming more healthy and fully functioning. A confrontation with any of these givens fills an individual with existential anxiety. This anxiety is thought to reduce a person s psychological, physical, social, and spiritual awareness, which may lead to significant long term consequences. For example, many individuals have learned throughout their lives that each human being and their loved ones will eventually die, but the day and time this will happen to anyone is unknown. The fact that this information is unknown may bring people tremendous feelings of anxiety which may lead certain people to ignore the present reality and become fixated on death and human existence. However, through existential therapy it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
