Attorney General Roles
The role of Attorney General was established in 1789 by the Judiciary Act. The role has been around
for hundreds of years and generally remains successful, considering the position is appointed by the
new president when he/she steps into office. The Attorney General is the head of the U.S. Department
of Justice, meaning they are the lawyer of the United States government. The Attorney General
enforces federal laws, gives legal counsel in federal cases, and can be called upon to represent the
United States government in a Supreme Court Case. Currently, eighty one Americans have served the
role of Attorney General and Jeff Sessions has been appointed to become the eighty second. Trump s

Sessions is a huge climate skeptic. He believes the current climate science is all deliberate
misinformation . In a 2014 speech in the Senate he said, I don t know we know enough now to answer
this question conclusively either way, but there s been a lot of exaggeration, there s been a lot of hype,
and people are feeling the crunch already in their electric bills ... in our effort to stop storms that don t
seem to be going down, or to stop temperatures that don t seem to be rising... . A statement like this
could only ensure the United States will remain behind other countries that seem to be finding more
and more resources in their search to go green . This could be potentially destructive. Sessions is also
known to have joked about the Ku Klux Klan, or KKK, with former colleagues, even saying he
supported them. However, he supported them until he found out they smoked marijuana. This suggests
he supports the overall ideology of white supremacy. If Sessions does in fact not support weed, this
could hinder the legalization of marijuana in the United States, which keeps the U.S. behind other
countries that have already legalized and promoted the recreational use of marijuana to partake in all
the benefits of it. Jeff Sessions has also taken controversial stances on many important topics. Jeff
Sessions has voted yes on prohibiting minors from crossing state border to receive

Natural Imagery In The Film Departures
Natural imagery is used in Departures and in When the Emperor was Divine to show emotions. This
was done through the use of stones and leaves. In Departures, Daigo gave a stone to Mika to show his
emotions towards his wife. He tells her a story about how his father gave him a stone before he left,
and promised to send one every years (Takita). These stones are used as stone letters to represent the
emotions and feelings that the person who gives the stone feels. The stones are very symbolic
throughout the movie. In addition, Daigo visits his dead father, and in his father s hand is the stone
letter Daigo had given him before he left (Takita). This is very representative of the bond between the
two. It is used to display that the father

The Workplace and Title Seven Essay example
The Workplace and Title VII
The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was the catalyst in abolishing the separate but equal policies that had
been a mainstay in our society. Though racial discrimination was the initial focal point, its enactment
affected every race. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in housing, education,
employment, public accommodations and the receipt of federal funds based on certain discrimination
factors such as race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age or religion. Title VII is the employment
segment of the Civil Rights Act and is considered one of the most important aspects of legislation that
has helped define the employment law practices in this country. Prior to Title VII, an employer could

For example, the Indian reservation can provide preferential treatment to other Native American
Indians and a religious organization can hire those who only share their faith without fear of a
discrimination claim being upheld in court.
If an employee alleges discrimination in the workplace, they may file a complaint with the EEOC. As
the claims process furthers, the EEOC will move forward and file suit in federal court if reasonable
cause is shown and no conciliation is made between the employer and employee. If no reasonable
cause is shown, the EEOC will send the employee a right to sue letter. In alleging discrimination, it is
important for both parties to be aware of the theories by which a lawsuit may be brought. A
discrimination lawsuit must fit under disparate treatment or disparate impact in order to be recognized
under Title VII.
Disparate treatment is considered intentional discrimination. It is treating similarly situated employees
differently because of prohibited Title VII factors . (Bennett Alexander etal pp 95) Anheuser Busch,
Inc., v. Missouri Com n on Human Rights, is an example of a prima facie disparate treatment case. In
this case, an African American woman was subjected to disciplinary action for committing the same
infractions as three of her white co workers. The employer failed to punish all of the employees alike
and had no reasonable explanation for reviewing

Mysteries of the Haudenosaunee
Many believe that all Native American tribes can be stereotypically grouped together and referred to
as one in the same. However, this is simply not true. Each tribe has its own language and its own
culture none were as impressive as that of the Iroquois, whom belonged originally to the Northwestern
Woodland portion of North America. In modern times they are referred to as the Haudenosaunee or
the Six Nations that comprise the Iroquois Confederacy. These nations include: the Mohawk, Oneida,
Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora (who joined in the 1800 s). Known numbers of the

Drinking Water Is An Adjective
1. Introduction
The term drinking water is a wonderfully ambiguous pairing of words. Drinking can be an adjective,
describing the many natures of this clear liquid. This water has special, vital qualities. It s not ocean
water, not dish water, not swamp water. It is potable water safe enough to consume without getting
sick. A rare liquid, one that will become less and less taken for granted in the future. Or drinking can
connote an action a specific intent to drink water rather than freeze water, sell water, wash with water.
And if the water is for the act of drinking, then who gets to drink, when can they drink, and where can
they drink? Such ambiguity is entirely appropriate for one of the few human actions and conditions
that are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
And drinking water is the story of humanity s future. The greatest threat to human well being in the
world today is not climate change, AIDS, or warfare. Unsafe drinking water is the single largest killer
in the world. Roughly half of the developing world suffers from illnesses caused by contaminated
water supplies. No surprise, then, that the history of drinking water highlights the most pressing issues
of our time from globalization, social justice, and commerce to terrorism, national security, and
technology.
2.1 Resources and Need for Water Desalination
The earth contains about 1.4×10⁹ km³ of water, which covers approximately 70% of the planet surface
area; the percentage of salt water in this large amount is 97.5%. The remaining 2.5% is fresh water
with 80% of this amount frozen in the icecaps or combined as soil moisture. Both forms are not easily
accessible for human use. The remaining quantity, about 0.5%, is believed to be adequate to support
all life on Earth. Unfortunately, this water is not distributed evenly throughout the plant and it is not
available in sufficient quantities either when or where it is needed. Table 1 gives a summary for
distribution of various water resources across the globe. The global daily average of rainfall is 2×10¹¹
m³. This amount is poorly distributed across the globe.

Why I Learned Mathematics For Teaching Mathematics
Introduction This report follows the progress of an eight year old, grade three child s progress, through
a mathematical diagnostic assessment pertaining specifically to number placement, and proceeds
through the relevant stages of mathematical learning, mapping the strategic points involved in
teaching mathematics whilst following the progress of the child, and the areas with which they
required improvement. The partitioned focus, of this report is on specific areas such as the mechanics
of learning numbers specifically, counting and the developmental appropriate learning stages of a
neurotypical child. Succeeding the initial factual proponent of the report (Part A), is an account of the
experience of tutoring (Part B) the grade three child, whom shall be known as Boris (a neighbours
child). A permission slip was attained a copy of which may be found within the appendices. This
portion of the report will explain any errors Boris made, why Boris made those errors, and what was
done to rectify them. Pictorial evidence of the tutoring sessions may be found within the body of the
Part B text. Part A Rationale In order to teach well, there must be an observance of the student, and
how that student may best learn. The commonsense within the points, which make up the components
of the professional judgement circle (Department of Education, (DoEWA) 2013. p. 2.) describe well
the necessary stages for the development of student learning, as opposed to teacher teaching and a

Medieval Total War
Creating a video game genre entirely of its own, the popular and successful Total War series offers six
titles to date with a seventh near completion due for release in the fall of 2008. The first game Shogun
Total War was a cut above the rest for its time where players chose one of the main feudal Japanese
factions and vied for a unified ancient Japan. There was a strategic phase where players ruled their
lands and a battle mode where players controlled their units like chess pieces from a god mode like
view. Then came Medieval Total War with some improvements to the concept. Medieval Total War (1)
took the game to feudal Europe, Northern Africa, and part of the Middle East. Improvements included

Assembly brings the next strategy game in the Total War and Shogun series that combines the day to
day management of your clan in turn based strategy along with real time battles. Total War: Shogun 2
brings the best of both worlds of real time war and turn based strategy management for an interesting
and dynamic gaming experience. Total War: Shogun 2 starts you out as clan Overlord of one of the
provinces of Japan in the 16th century where you do some basic management of resources, education
and religion along with diplomatic relations. During your course of steering your province through the
events of the 16th century you will encounter in battle other clans which you need to prepare for. You
build your province both in the public order and maintaining the affairs of your clan but also with the
protection needed of the day. Warriors and armies will include the sword swinging popular Japanese
soldiers as well as bow and arrows or spear carrying soldiers of the time. You get to control each
group of warriors you build in battle but you first need to recruit each set of soldiers during the turn
based gaming. Each part of the game, turn based management and real time strategy, is separate and
distinct for a good break from time to time in each area of gaming. You start the campaign of Shogun
2 by choosing one nine clans and several time frames to battle your way to Kyoto in using both
diplomacy and war. The main goal of the campaigns is to seize control of Kyoto and you have a
variety of time frames to choose from do accomplish this. Each clan you can choose from has a
specialty like woods for bowmen and you get a bonus for recruiting

The Importance Of Reducing The Emissions That Are Emitted...
Altomonte
The article stats off with talking about the importance of reducing the emissions that are emitted by,
and go into building buildings. The article explains the history of global warming, and the science
behind the basics of climate change and warming. It stateZs how humans have changed the chemistry
of the atmosphere through the combustion of fossil fuels and living matter, bringing about the prospect
of global alterations and shifts in the whole terrestrial climate system(Altomonte,2008,pg.97). It is this
reason that the world is experiencing climate change, and though the climate may have been naturally
warming since the beginning of time, it was at a pace that was slow enough to species to migrate when
they need to, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Climate change is expected to negatively affect the future of most developing countries, increasing the
pressure on available resources that are associated with urbanisation and industrialisation(102). With
these affects in mind, Altomonte explains the mitigation and adaptations strategies to mitigate the
possible consequences of climate change. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly
contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce
their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise
their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current
buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is
necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively
impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing
physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary
features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values
(106). Altomonte states how these conditions of a new climate, now seem unavoidable(99), but there
is solutions to be made to

Walt Whitman And Allen Ginsberg s Poetry
Follow your inner moonlight; don t hide the madness. You say what you want to say when you don t
care who s listening. Walt Whitman was a brilliant writer of his time, a writer that created a voice for
the masses to no longer be a mass, but an individual. He was truly a pioneer of his generation, a
revolutionary in thought, and this is not his quote. Due to his paralleled lifestyle to Walt Whitman,
Allen Ginsberg learned and drew inspiration from such works as Leaves of Grass to apply towards his
own book, Howl and Other Poems in the 1960s.
The lives that they lived mirrored one another, in a way bringing the two poets closer despite a century
gap. Arduous childhoods were not a foreign concept to either man; neither lived the ... Show more

The younger years are the most influential, there is no doubt that Ginsberg stored Whitman s messages
in his heart and kept the morals throughout his life. Proof of this lies in Ginsberg s alteration of
religious views. Kaddish in Judaism is meant as a mourning prayer, a title meant as reflection of
Ginsberg s mothers mental problems. Though Ginsberg s origins were Jewish, he would convert to a
Buddhist belief system which would subsume into his work and themes. Walt Whitman was a
humanist, part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism that played a major role in the
writing of that generation. When Whitman figures Leaves of Grass as the product of a harmonious
identity between the human body, human society, and the natural environment, a realm distinguished
by an intense focus on the material existence of the human body, and a radical freedom consisting in
an unfettered identification of the body with its material environment (Nineteenth Century Literature
Criticism). The belief of letting go of material value and place a value in self discovery.
In their respective time periods both Ginsberg and Whitman held the same purpose in their poetic
compositions. Whitman would chastise the American society for being money driven. Although the
Civil War had ended and the need for income was desperate, this desire for wealth had flourished into
the American mind set. The opening of the west, the surge of immigration, the melding of a

What Is The Dramatic Change In Pay It Forward

Eugene Simonet not because it caused him to stop running away. Throughout the movie Eugene
Simonet shows difficult opening up to people and letting them know what makes him tick. As seen

After certain moral lessons were taught these characters began to exhibit qualities that they ve never

heart up to others like Arlene and Trevor. Another dramatic change is Arlene because in the beginning
it seemed like she was missing the control of her life that she needed and everything just walked all
over her which led her to drink excessively. When she finally fixed her moral compass she changed
her self and he attitude towards life. Arlene dumped her abusive husband, regained connections with
her mother, settled down with Eugene, and repaired the bond between her and Trevor.Jerry at first had
shown that life had beat him down and he had no chance of getting back up. When Trevor offered him
that opportunity he needed he took it and tried to make a change with his life but ended up going back
to drugs. It wasn t until he met a woman on the verge of suicide that he realized that he needed to

Sentimentality Of William Tavener Analysis
In Sentimentality of William Tavener the events of the plot are ordered in chronological order with
brief flashbacks. The story is about a family who lives in the middle of nowhere. The kids of the
family work hard on the farm every day and the mother believes that they should have a break to go to
the circus. The husband and wife did not have a very loving relationship, so the mother was always
defensive on the topic of her sons: the main cause of the majority of their disagreements. The mother
went into detail on how much fun her experience was as a child. The husband corrects her on one of
the animals that she had mistaken for something else. They then got into the discussion of certain
elements of the circus. The topic of the circus soon changed to more recent, topics. The husband and

Causes Of Calcium Uptake From Foliar Application
Calcium Uptake from Foliar Application
Foliar Ca2+ application has been suggested to increase the fruit Ca2+ supply that may, in turn, reduce
fruit Ca2+ deficiency disorders. Spraying with Ca2+ solution reduces Ca2+ deficiency injury in plants
(Kleemann 2000b) e.g. foliar Ca2+ spray reduces BER incidence of tomato (Schmitz Eiberger, Haefs,
and Noga 2002) ; spraying of 0.5% solution of Calciogreen in glasshouse completely prevents BER
incidence of bell pepper variety Cecil though the fruit mass was reduced(Parađiković et al. 2004) ;
spraying of young tomato with CaCl2 limits the development BER (Schmitz Eiberger, Haefs, and
Noga 2002); spraying of celery with CaCl2 or Ca(NO3)2 completely control blackheart (Geraldson
1952, 1954). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, direct application of Ca2+ can reduce the symptoms of Ca2+ deficiency disorder but does
not remove them completely (Ferguson and Watkins 1989) and exogenous Ca2+ may not bound with
the cell structure tightly that leads to easy leakage of it (Ferguson and Watkins 1983).
Calcium Translocation within Plant
Soil solution Ca2+ enters the root apoplast with mass flow of water (Barber 1995) and is transported
to the xylem via apoplastic or symplastic pathways (White and Broadley 2003). Apoplastic pathway
consists of cell wall and intercellular spaces where Ca2+ moves with water passively across the
gradient of water potential (Karley and White 2009; White 2001). Symplastic pathway consists of
cytoplasm where Ca2+ moves from cell to cell through plasmodesmata (Karley and White 2009;
White 2001). Tight regulation of cytosolic Ca2+ at a very low concentration (0.1 0.2 μM) implies that
apoplastic pathway is the main route of Ca2+ translocation across the root cortex (White and Broadley
2003; Taylor and Locascio 2004; Karley and White 2009). However, presence of Casparian strip at the
root endodermal cells prevents further movement of Ca2+ towards the xylem. The Casparian strip
prevents apoplastic movement of solutes (Clarkson 1993; White 2001) and suberization restricts the
movement of Ca2+ into the endodermal cells(Moore et

The Physics Of Roller Coasters In The Silverwood Theme Park
There is no place more jam packed with real life, physics examples than an amusement park.
Silverwood Theme Park is a prime example of how physics is present in one s everyday life. Two
rides at this particular theme park can be found in many variations all around the world: wooden roller
coasters. The two wooden roller coasters found in Silverwood are named Timber Terror and Tremors.
These two thrilling rides are one of the most basic roller coasters in the park, yet there is almost
always at least a twenty minute wait for these rides. The question becomes, Why are these rides so
popular? Well, the answer is in the physics behind the two coasters. Neither Timber Terror nor
Tremors has an engine or anything pushing the cars along the track. The only time the cars are aided
by a machine is when the car is being carried to the top of the first hill and the compression brakes at
the end, but from then on, the cars are in the hands of potential energy and kinetic energy ( Roller
Coaster ). Mechanical energy is used to lift the train cars to the top of the hill. Once it reaches the top
of the hill, the car has a very large amount of potential energy. After the car reaches the top and begins
its descent, it loses potential energy with the loss of height and gains kinetic energy. Each time the
coaster goes up a hill, it loses kinetic energy and gains potential energy ( Energy Transformation ).
Although potential and kinetic energy play the largest roles in the physics behind a

In addition, the nurse must maintain profession boundaries, during interaction with the client some

Alpine Lodge Research Paper
On the side of the road along route 33 in Alpena, WV sits the Alpine Lodge. The Alpine Lodge opened
up in 1939 as a hunting and fishing lodge and came to be because of a man named Adam Thomas
Dahmer. Adam and his wife Julia owned a business in Glady and a store and post office in Bemis.
Adam had his heart set on building a business in Alpena so he purchased the Park Collett Farm
sometime in the 1920 s; this was to become the home of the Alpine Lodge.
Adam Dahmer died in 1942 from a massive heart attack while walking in the snow to the Alpine
Lodge. His wife Julia continued to operate the Lodge well into her eighties and did all of the baking
for the lodge until her last days. At ninety, Julia had help from her daughter Lorraine Burke in the
daily business of the Lodge. Julia Dahmer died at the age of 104 years old. Her daughter Lorraine
continues to supervise the Lodge at the age of ninety three years old. She gave the ownership of the
Lodge to her son Mark Lynn Burke years earlier but Lorraine continues to work there as her mother
did for so many years. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Alpines restaurant offers a breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even dessert. The food ranges from a
hoagie sandwich to a rack of prime rib and everything in between. My mom worked at the Lodge

Have you ever tried a slice of real, famous New York pizza? It s nearly impossible to find that quality
outside of NY, especially down here in the South. However, I had heard of this place right off
Issaqueena Trail in Clemson that claimed to take you to New York City with one bite. After visiting
Joe s, I realized they weren t lying! Joe s New York Pizza sets the bar high for other pizza places due
to its high food quality, prompt service, and overall welcoming environment. The sun hung low in the
sky as I walked up to the entrance to Joe s. When the front door opened, scents of roasted garlic,
melted cheese, and spices and a smile greeted me. The place was spotless with glimmering floors, and
the glass looked like you could put your hand through it. There was no mistaking that this was a
Clemson oriented shop; orange and purple tables, booths, chairs, and walls filled the building. On the
main wall, there was a mural stretching to both ends depicting a roaring tiger, Death Valley post win,
and a plethora of Clemson sports. Towards the back of the dining room, there was an open kitchen,
guarded by two stainless steel shelves. I could see the industrial oven through the window, as they
pulled out hot, freshly baked pizzas, cut them, and sent them on. Sounds of clanking plates, a ... Show

Body Snatchers Allegory
The Invasion of the Body Snatchers, directed by Don Siegel, utilized action and a flashback sequence.
At the beginning of the movie, the audience members see a frantic man in a doctor s office saying that
he is sane and tells his accounts of the body snatchers. The screen goes blurry, which indicates that
there is a flashback/story being told. The flashbacks worked in this film because they helped establish
that the story occurred in the past and it s from the main character s Dr. Miles point of view.
There are many arguments whether Invasion of the Body Snatcher is an allegory to the Communist
Movement. Jeff Saporito from ScreenPrism takes a closer look at the film and how it relates to
communism. He states that there were themes of hysteria

Essay on Adolescent Substance Abuse
Running Header: Substance Abuse
Adolescent Substance Abuse
Dana Sweitzer
Liberty University
Abstract Adolescent substance abuse is a major problem in society. There are many risk factors that
can contribute to adolescent substance abuse. One of the main risk factors is peer pressure. When
adolescents start at a young age there is an increase in health problems, addiction, and over all poor
social outcomes. Parental influence has substantial effect on adolescents because the adolescent sees
their parents and they learn by their example. Media plays a role in the use of drug and alcohol use
among young people. Many school systems have implemented programs that teach adolescents about
the problems of substance abuse that is funded ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among adolescents aged 12 to 17 years, 9.8 % are estimated to be current users of illicit drugs, with
4.9 % using drugs other than marijuana. Nearly three quarters of students have started to drink alcohol
and nearly half (47%) have tried using an illicit drug (not including alcohol or tobacco) by the senior
year of high school. (Hassan, Harris, Sherritt, Van Hook, amp; Brooks, 2009)
Media has a lot to do with adolescent substance abuse. Many times in advertisement, adolescents see
people drinking alcohol and having a great time. Media spends over $25 billion dollars on
advertisement yearly. Many celebrities are seen smoking or drinking alcohol in movies, TV, and on
commercials. This makes adolescents think that drinking, smoking, and taking drugs are cool and will
make them popular. Over 5000 deaths yearly are caused by alcohol consumption. (Strasburger, 2010)
Parental and peer influence plays an important role in adolescent substance abuse. Peer pressure can
influence each adolescent either indirectly or directly. Peer pressure is the most frequently discussed
risk factor. Peer substance abuse is the leading cause of adolescent substance abuse. Parental influence
can be positive or negative. They can have a significant influence on adolescents. Parents can

Jack Trout And Ries
What a strange word, positioning. Its origins are shrouded in the fog of history. The popular marketing
writers, Jack Trout and Al Ries, started talking about position or positioning in 1972 or thereabouts,
and took credit later for having invented positioning. However, I believe that positioning was an
emerging concept and a term, in at least limited use, within the marketing and advertising community
at the time that Trout and Ries first wrote about it. Certainly, the basic concepts of positioning were
not new in 1972. The term positioning was described by Trout and Ries as the basic position in the
consumer s mind occupied by a brand. They saw positioning as an antidote to the over communicated
society, in which consumers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning, it s critical to talk to consumers representing a broad spectrum of the potential
market. It is in these early stages that you must resist the temptation to focus too quickly on a narrow
segment of consumers. Keep the market definitions very broad in the early stages of the research so
you do not accidentally preordain the outcome before it begins. For example, if you interviewed
people who only use rotary lawnmowers, you probably would find they only want to buy rotary
mowers. But if you interviewed everyone with a lawn, you probably would identify many different
needs, problems and motives that may form the basis for a positioning strategy.
Qualitative methods (focus groups, depth interviews and ethnography) are essential in the early stages.
What do consumers know, and what do they not know? What language, associations, images, and
metaphors do consumers use in talking about the category? What brands are they familiar with, and
how much do they know about the different brands? What are their perceptions of each of these
brands? What motivates them to consume the product or use the service? What are the key
determinates of brand preference? How is the market segmented or subdivided? What products or
services would be substituted if the subject brand were unavailable? What are the major channels of
distribution, and how does the channel relate to perceptions and usage of the brands? Who are heavy

Tyler Joseph s Song Ode To Sleep
At first, Ode to Sleep, a song by the band Twenty One Pilots, seems to illustrate the relationship
between being asleep and being awake. However, the song has much more meaning to it. In fact, it
discusses depression and the horrible thoughts that can go through someone s mind at night.
Moreover, in this song, night and day have special meaning. Tyler Joseph, the writer of the song and
lead singer of the band, uses lyrics and different types of instruments, such as the synthesizer and
strings, to portray the meanings behind the signs in this song. Additionally, the song cycles between
dark and light parts, each with its own meaning. This paper will not only discuss the lyrical meaning
of this song, but it will also discuss the instrumental ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why am I not scared in the morning? I don t hear those voices calling (Joseph, Ode to Sleep). This
suggests that the light sounding music and the dark sounding music are in fact symbols for day and
night, which are also symbols for sanity and insanity. When Joseph is awake in the morning, he doesn
t have dark thoughts and is sane, but at night, Joseph is insane and hears demonic voices. In addition,
the voices are icons that represent evil and darkness. Later in the first lighter part, Joseph sings Why
wont you let me go, Do I threaten all your plans, I m insignificant. You have no plans for me, I will set
my soul on fire, what have I become, I m sorry (Joseph, Ode to Sleep). Joseph believes that he is
fighting darkness with his harpoon, but he doesn t want to because by doing so, he is going insane.
Moreover, when Joseph sings I will set my soul on fire , he sounds like he is struggling to take a
breath, as if he was fighting to live (Joseph, Ode to Sleep). Furthermore, setting one s soul on fire is
often seen as a symbol for self cleansing or forgiveness. Therefore, Tyler wants to be forgiven and

Hemoglobin A1c Test Essay
The hemoglobin A1C test measures a person s average blood sugar over the course of two or three
months. It is very important for women who are pregnant to get their hemoglobin A1C checked on a
regular basis. Below is a list of reasons pregnant women should get their A1C levels checked:
Gestational Diabetes Is Common
A form of diabetes that develops during gestation, or pregnancy, is known as gestational diabetes. It
affects anywhere from 4.2 to 9.6 percent of pregnant women. During pregnancy, the placenta produces
high levels of hormones. These hormones can impair the function of insulin, which leads to elevated
blood sugar.
Gestational diabetes can lead to complications. However, if it is detected early, then a woman can have
a normal, healthy pregnancy. A hemoglobin A1C test can detect gestational diabetes. ... Show more

These miscarriages typically occur during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Studies have shown that
women who have high A1C Levels are at a greater risk for having a miscarriage. Fortunately, women
who get their blood sugar under control are less likely to have a miscarriage in the future.
More Accurate Than Home Glucose Monitoring
Many women check their blood glucose level at home. While home monitoring is beneficial, a A1C
test is more accurate. Blood sugar levels can fluctuate throughout the day, so high blood sugar can be
missed. Because the A1C test measures long term blood sugar control, it is better for diagnosing
gestational diabetes.
See How Well A Person Is Responding To Treatment
Diet and exercise can lower blood sugar in women who have gestational diabetes. However, diet and
exercise may not be enough. In fact, it is estimated that 10 to 20 percent of pregnant women with
gestational diabetes need medication. Oral drugs can be used to lower blood sugar. Doctors may also

A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur s Court
Even though the setting of both works, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur s Court by Mark Twain
and The Crucible by Arthur Miller, are written in a time period different from their publication, both
works use characters in their novels as a critique of the author s societies. Twain uses his satirical
work to make fun of both the Northern and Southern, but does not make any direct comparisons
between the characters of his novel to real life figures. On the other hand, the characters in Miller s
novel are more directly correlated to specific people and groups during the Second Red Scare.

During the Second Red Scare the Hollywood Ten were a group of ten actors, directors, and producers
who according to Senator Joseph Mccarthy had communist ties and were trying to spread Soviet
Propaganda through American society by way of media. Even though these actors may have had slight
ties to communism Miller believed that they did not deserve to be blacklisted from all of media after
the trials. Miller uses John Proctor, the protagonist of his novel, to show the unfairness of these trials.
Proctor, while not perfect, was the most sane and righteous man in the town of Salem during the
events of the novel, but he still was put in jail for a crime that Miller believed would be minor in the
eyes of his audiences. Proctor committed adultery, but did not commit any crimes that would have
been generous to Miller s audiences. Even for this slight crime Proctor was put to death by the judges
of Salem. This is in comparison to the treatment of the Hollywood Ten by Mccarthy and Congress
during the Second Red Scare, where there crimes were slight, but they were put to death anyway due
to a power trip by a a few people in power. This direct comparison between Proctor and the
Hollywood Ten allowed Miller to make the Hollywood Ten seem more innocent and worthy of trust.
His use of unfair treatment against Proctor also made it seem to the audiences that Mccarthy and his

Natural Resources throughout the World
All that glitters is not gold.
Right is still right, even if nobody is doing it. And wrong is still wrong, even everybody is doing it.
Texas Ranger saying.
No doubt, Pakistan is among those few countries which are rich in natural resources. But merely a
plenty of natural resources does not assure the promised prosperity for a country. There is always
something concealed behind the apparent opportunity, but what matters here is that we do not bother
to unveil those glittering chances and opportunities that can be efficiently selected and chose for future
prospects as well. Pakistan is one of the developing countries, blessed with a plenty of natural
resources but sometimes blessings can also become a curse not by the supreme power of Allah but by
the human err and wrong decisions. Sometimes, natural resource becomes a curse for developing
countries and can be termed as paradox of plenty. Such countries tend to have less economic growth
and worse development outcomes because natural resource curse causes conflicts, bad governance and
stagnant economic growth. Instead being a blessing, such natural resources have an adverse impact on

The exhibition Conversations: African and African American Artworks in Dialogue comprised a series
of artworks that gave a unique experience into African life and society. Two sculptures, Woman
Resting and The Family elicited further interpretation and analysis in the use of the formal elements of
color and shape and the design principle of repetition and rhythm. Moreover, the artwork, and to an
even further extent the whole exhibition, gave way the thought of what I can consider to family and
what relationships I should hold dear to me.

Book Report On Fenn Valley Vineyards Essay
Fenn Valley Vineyards
On September 9th, a group of friends (Charlotte Fung, Renee Swartz, and Anthony Dilernia), and I

Acute Withdrawal Research Paper
Addiction the destroyer of families, friendships, and even human lives is one of the most prevalent
evils to plague our rotting society. It leaves man either a slave to substance or a walking corpse. When
users reach the end of the line, and realize their actions are in no way helpful, they may seek
rehabilitation. During rehabilitation, addicts may go through withdrawal. Withdrawal is both an
important and demanding time for recovering addicts. Withdrawal as a whole, and moreover its two
stages, acute and post acute withdrawal, is by no means an easy trial to endure.
Withdrawal occurs when a person stops using an agent such as alcohol, narcotics, or any other
addictive substance. This stage of recovery typically results in a number of uncomfortable side effects.
Common symptoms experienced by recovering addicts include depression, seclusion, anxiety,
insomnia, petulance, perspiration, nausea, and tremors. Contrary to what would be assumed,
alcoholics actually have one of the most dangerous withdrawal periods. Along with the previously
listed symptoms, they also risk seizures, heart attacks, strokes, and hallucinations. Despite the

As is the case with most recoveries, the beginning can easily be considered the worst part. The exact
length of acute withdrawal is rather inconsistent, as would be expected, seeing as how people are

As is the case with the length of this period, the symptoms vary greatly from person to person. Acute
withdrawal seems to be the time span when the majority of the physical symptoms are experienced,
albeit one person generally will not be exposed to all of them. Acute withdrawal may leave an addict
thinking that all the effort they put into recovery is futile, but they hold out hope that one day they will
be able to live a normal

In this world only the paranoid survive. Dean Koontz
There are two types of recruiters out there: recruiters working for staffing agencies (including

but there are a few slight differences.

present during your discussion with the candidate and when you hear the same story that you heard

efficient and detailed recruiter. It will affect your pipeline and time to fill, because if you have gut
feeling that at the end the candidate is not going to join your company, you are not going to stop your

The longer you spend in recruitment, the less you say to your colleagues I never saw it coming and the

The blue light from the sky would thus be light scattered to the sides, while the reddish light would be
light that passes through the lower layers of the atmosphere and which has become impoverished in

in question might be due to the fact that the molecules of air themselves exercised a scattering effect
on the rays of light.
In 1914 Cabannes succeeded in showing experimentally that pure and dustless gases also have the
capacity of scattering rays of light.
But a closer examination of scattering in different substances in solid, liquid, or gaseous form showed
that the scattered light did not in certain respects exactly follow the laws which, according to
calculation, should hold good for the Tyndall effect. The hypothesis which formed the basis of this
effect would seem to involve, amongst other things, that the rays scattered to the sides were polarized.
This, however, did not prove to be exactly the case.
This divergence from what was to be expected was made the starting point of a searching study of the
nature of scattered light, in which study Raman was one of those who took an active part. Raman

Introduction
The fiscal problem that the Western Springs Fire Department has is the low amount of paid on call
firefighters. If the department looks at these different ways to receive money, they can provide
incentives to draw in future firefighters. Solutions would be to pay a higher hourly rate as well as
implement education tuition funds for the firefighters. As a result, the Department would be able to
offer more incentives to their new firefighters which would lead to increased amount firefighters that
will want to apply at this fire department. This will structure the department to stand out from the
other paid on call departments.
Body
Identify the problem
The fiscal problem is that there are not enough paid on call firefighters to respond to calls. Recruiting
more firefighters to the Western Springs Fire Department would be a benefit to the department as well
as the village. The department would have enough firefighters to control the all calls by mitigating the
problem and save life/ property. This would also eliminate the need of calling and rely on other
departments to respond to the villages own 911 call. If the fire department has extra beneficial items to
offer to the new firefighters it could attract more firefighters to join and this would stop the fiscal
problem.

This Fire Department can explore multiple ways to attract future recruits into Western Springs.

Self-Realization In The Remains Of The Day
There is a form that an ending can take a form far more subtle and yet more powerful than the typical
happy ending; the ending of true self realization. Men have an insidious way of deceiving themselves
most continue in this self destructive path for their entire lives, but some come to a point where
something strikes them, something that turns their constructed worlds upside down, something that
forces them to be honest with themselves; only when this something strikes them can they come to a
point of true self realization. The main character of The Remains of The Day, Mr. Stevens, is one of
them men to whom this self realization comes. In some roundabout way, even during his time of
blindness, Mr. Stevens is cognizant of this fact even if he does not see its full implications. The theme
of self realization is shown by the character s realization that bantering plays a significant role in the

The Holiday season is the most important time of the year for many retail stores, but this year Toys R
Us inc, might be spending it filing for bankruptcy. It s been reported by sources familiar with this
situation, that Toys R Us, American toy retailer founded in 1948, may file for bankruptcy as soon as
early October. The sources reported that the plans for bankruptcy are not certain, and both plans and
timing could change. The filing in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia was
triggered by vendors and suppliers tightening terms with the company ahead of the key holiday selling
season, which accounted for 40% of its $11.5 billion in revenue last year. Said Tatyana Shumsky, from

Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Networking
Like all revolutions, the social networking revolution is accompanied by concerns and questions about
whether the changes have wrought something better or something worse. (Szumski and Karson ¶ 4)
The social networking revolution has come a long way in its accessibility and effectiveness and has
become a great resource for many people. But with its benefits come more serious downfalls that need
to be acknowledged and dealt with. While social networking can be used as a clear, accessible source,
for communication, social networking also has several negative effects on a person in ways such as
socially, mentally, and physically; by limiting internet time, restricting the accessibility, and
monitoring what kids are doing, social networking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It not only affects the user, but also the people around them, and the effects are more serious than most
people know. In a article written by Shivani Jain, Rakesh Sharma and Sushil they explain that By
using social networking in the wrong way can cause behavior or a narcissistic and antisocial behavior
in children. (Jain and Sharma et al. ¶ 18) A problem comes when people create relationships over the
internet and beleive that it is a true genuine relationship. In a study done by The Royal Society Open
Science Organization, they found that social network users only feel as though 27.6% of their onlines
friends are people that would be there for them in hard times like a real friends. (Dunbar ¶11) Children
have a hard time understanding that social networking is not always real and accurate. As awesome as
it is that we can meet new people on the internet that we would likely not meet in person,
unfortunately it cannot be certain exactly who it is we are making a connection with. In an article from
Gale Cengage Learning, a columnist for the Times, Eleanor Mills exclaims that the skills that create
long lasting friendships needed in life by everyone are not being portrayed by social networking sites.
She continues to explain that the relationships developed and maintained on the internet should not be
taken as seriously as the relationships in real life. (Mills ¶) By not teaching kids what it takes to make
real life relationship it is going to be a problem when they

Randy Pausch Biography
I couldn t imagine going through the same situation as Randy Pausch, it s possibly the hardest thing to

the fun loving Tigger in my last moments. My decision would be to spend my last moments doing
what I love with the people who are closest to me. The memories that you make will over power
having all the materialistic things in the world. Pausch s ideas on how to live a life that he explained in
his last lecture are strong enough to change most peoples attitudes. After hearing his lecture with the

Starbucks Brand Marketing
Brand Review
The original Starbucks opened in Seattle, Washington, in 1971 by three partners: English teacher Jerry
Baldwin, history teacher Zev Siegel, and writer Gordon Bowker. The three were inspired by Alfred
Peet, whom they knew personally, to open their first store in Pike Place Market to sell high quality
coffee beans and equipment. The original Starbucks location was at 2000 Western Avenue from 1971
1976. That store then moved to 1912 Pike Place; it is still open. During their first year of operation,
they purchased green coffee beans from Peet s, and then began buying directly from growers.
Entrepreneur Howard Schultz joined the company in 1982, and, after a trip to Milan, advised that the

In the mid 1990 s Starbucks developed an unsuccessful carbonated coffee flavored soda called
Mazagran. Starbucks has special beverages for the holiday season like the Gingerbread
Latte,Peppermint Mocha and Eggnog Latte, as well as Christmas Blend whole bean coffee, which is a
blend of Asia/Pacific coffees and aged Indonesian beans. Starbucks also packages the same blend of
beans in a Holiday Blend bag, for those who do not celebrate Christmas.
Starbucks supplements the beverage offerings with pastries, salads, cold sandwiches, hot panini,
coffee merchandise and at home brewing equipment, bagged or scooped coffee beans and, in some
regions, pre made hot breakfast muffin sandwiches.
The logo is a twin tailed mermaid (the siren of Greek mythology). The logo has been streamlined over
the years. In the first version, the Starbucks siren was topless and had a fully visible double fish tail. In
the second version, her chest was covered by her flowing hair, but her navel was still visible, and the
fish tail was cropped slightly. In the current version, her navel and chest are not visible at all, and only
vestiges remain of the fish tails. The original logo can still be seen on the Starbucks store in Seattle s
Pike Place Market and on certain coffee bags.
At the beginning of September 2006, Starbucks temporarily reintroduced its original brown logo on
paper hot drink cups. Starbucks has stated that this was done to show the company

Stereotypes Of Teenagers
The ages thirteen through nineteen have been influenced by many things through the media. TV
programs, movies, advertising, magazines, and the web. These medias are more used by teenagers
than any other group. Teenagers are very difficult to figure out what they watch, or read, or listen. It s
different, but all together it s mostly the same. The TV programs have a lot of stereotypes towards
teenagers. Girls think they can t do things that guys do. There are programs out there that show those
types of stereotypes and these stereotypes get into their head which makes them realize there s no way
for them to do it. The contradicted stereotypes are that there are some girls out there in this world that
CAN do what any guy can do. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In school, there are clubs and after school activities. The people running those advertise by giving out
fliers or just straight up talking to you about their club or the activities. They can also ask a specific
person, like for example, they can go to a different race and talk about a certain subject that s referring
to that race. Anyone can be advertised in any way or anything. It doesn t matter if you re a girl or a
guy or a different race. You ll be advertised anyways. Sometimes when it s a specific type of
advertisement that s referring to someone specific, it can make you think oh it s not for me so I should
just ignore it. And it ll make you feel like that advertisement wasn t for you, but for someone else.
There are so many different kinds of magazines. There are fashion magazines, fitness magazines,
cooking magazines, and all other kinds. The ones that teens usually look at are fashion, fitness, and
sport magazines. For girls the fashion magazine is the one they would most likely look at. They want
to follow the trends and what s in and what s out of fashion and some want to fit in with a crew that
dresses differently. Same thing with the guys. Whatever s out of fashion for them, they don t wear
anymore, but for girls whatever was out can come back to trend. For the guys that usually doesn t
happen. People may think of you differently because of what you re wearing, but they really don t
know who you really are.

Causes Of Pollution And Pollution Of The Ocean Essay
Pollution and Warming of the Ocean The ocean is a vast and mysterious part of our ocean. The ocean
covers 71 % of our planet and contains over 50% of all life on earth .( Oceanic Institute ). The oceans
also holds the deepest part of our planet that we have yet to explore and discover. The ocean is such a
vital part of our planet and we are destroying it with pollution and mistakes that we have made.
Global warming is a huge issue that we have to deal with. The world is getting warmer. Whether the
cause is human activity or natural variability most of evidence says it is because of humans.
Thermometer readings all around the world have risen steadily since the beginning of the Industrial
Revolution in Great Britain ( earthobservatory ). According to NASA s Goddard Institute for Space
Shuttles in the temperature had risen by .80 degrees celsius or 1.4 degrees fahrenheit since 1880(
earthobservatory ). You may think one degree what is the big deal? You have to think how much
energy it takes to raise the entire planet of the earth by one degree. The surface area of the earth is
196.9 million square miles. The cause of the temperature means that more solar radiation is getting
through our atmosphere. Most scientist believe that large levels of radiation actually cause the ice
age(Ice Age). So when you ask what the big deal about 1 or 2 degrees just remember that that one or
two degree sent the earth plundering into an global snow ball.
There is no denying that our Earth is

This could be potentially destructive. Sessions is also known to have joked about the Ku Klux Klan, or KKK, with former colleagues, even saying he supported them. However, he supported them until he found out they smoked marijuana. This suggests he supports the overall ideology of white supremacy. If Sessions does in fact not support weed, this could hinder the legalization of marijuana in the United States, which keeps the U.S. behind other countries that have already legalized and promoted the recreational use of marijuana to partake in all the benefits of it. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination in housing, education, employment, public accommodations and the receipt of federal funds based on certain discrimination factors such as race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age or religion. Drinking can be an adjective, describing the many natures of this clear liquid. This water has special, vital qualities. It s not ocean water, not dish water, not swamp water. It is potable water safe enough to consume without getting sick. A rare liquid, one that will become less and less taken for granted in the future. He highlights the issue of buildings, and how they highly contribute to the issue of direct fossil fuel emissions, and therefore it is necessary that buildings reduce their dependency on fossil fuels, curb their energy demands, exploit clean power sources and minimise their wastes(103). Suitable technologies must therefore be integrated into the design of current buildings to guarantee social, economic and environmental growth. Using new design strategies is necessary to create buildings that ensure comfort and health of the staff, as well as do not negatively impact the environment. To create such a building all fields of study must be included, inclduing physchology, climatology and engineering so that there is whole understanding of the necessary features for the building to reduce emissions and include necessary social, econmic and cultural values (106). Walt Whitman was a brilliant writer of his time, a writer that created a voice for the masses to no longer be a mass, but an individual. He was truly a pioneer of his generation, a revolutionary in thought, and this is not his quote. Due to his paralleled lifestyle to Walt Whitman, Allen Ginsberg learned and drew inspiration from such works as Leaves of Grass to apply towards his own book, Howl and Other Poems in the 1960s. Though Ginsberg s origins were Jewish, he would convert to a Buddhist belief system which would subsume into his work and themes. Walt Whitman was a humanist, part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism that played a major role in the writing of that generation. When Whitman figures Leaves of Grass as the product of a harmonious identity between the human body, human society, and the natural environment, a realm distinguished by an intense focus on the material existence of the human body, and a radical freedom consisting in an unfettered identification of the body with its material environment (Nineteenth Century Literature Criticism). The belief of letting go of material value and place a value in self discovery. In their respective time periods both Ginsberg and Whitman held the same purpose in their poetic compositions. The husband and wife did not have a very loving relationship, so the mother was always defensive on the topic of her sons: the main cause of the majority of their disagreements. However, direct application of Ca2+ can reduce the symptoms of Ca2+ deficiency disorder but does not remove them completely (Ferguson and Watkins 1989) and exogenous Ca2+ may not bound with the cell structure tightly that leads to easy leakage of it (Ferguson and Watkins 1983). Calcium Translocation within Plant Soil solution Ca2+ enters the root apoplast with mass flow of water (Barber 1995) and is transported to the xylem via apoplastic or symplastic pathways (White and Broadley 2003). Apoplastic pathway consists of cell wall and intercellular spaces where Ca2+ moves with water passively across the gradient of water potential (Karley and White 2009; White 2001). Symplastic pathway consists of cytoplasm where Ca2+ moves from cell to cell through plasmodesmata (Karley and White 2009; White 2001). Tight regulation of cytosolic Ca2+ at a very low concentration (0.1 0.2 μM) implies that apoplastic pathway is the main route of Ca2+ translocation across the root cortex (White and Broadley 2003; Taylor and Locascio 2004; Karley and White 2009). However, presence of Casparian strip at the root endodermal cells prevents further movement of Ca2+ towards the xylem. Silverwood Theme Park is a prime example of how physics is present in one s everyday life. Two rides at this particular theme park can be found in many variations all around the world: wooden roller coasters. The two wooden roller coasters found in Silverwood are named Timber Terror and Tremors. These two thrilling rides are one of the most basic roller coasters in the park, yet there is almost always at least a twenty minute wait for these rides. The question becomes, Why are these rides so popular? Well, the answer is in the physics behind the two coasters. Neither Timber Terror nor Tremors has an engine or anything pushing the cars along the track. The only time the cars are aided by a machine is when the car is being carried to the top of the first hill and the compression brakes at the end, but from then on, the cars are in the hands of potential energy and kinetic energy ( Roller Coaster ). Mechanical energy is used to lift the train cars to the top of the hill. Once it reaches the top of the hill, the car has a very large amount of potential energy. After the car reaches the top and begins its descent, it loses potential energy with the loss of height and gains kinetic energy. Each time the coaster goes up a hill, it loses kinetic energy and gains potential energy ( Energy Transformation ). Sometimes, natural resource becomes a curse for developing countries and can be termed as paradox of plenty. Such countries tend to have less economic growth and worse development outcomes because natural resource curse causes conflicts, bad governance and stagnant economic growth. Instead being a blessing, such natural resources have an adverse impact on an economy of a country. Elizabeth Catlett s Woman Resting The exhibition Conversations: African and African American Artworks in Dialogue comprised a series of artworks that gave a unique experience into African life and society. Two sculptures, Woman Resting and The Family elicited further interpretation and analysis in the use of the formal elements of color and shape and the design principle of repetition and rhythm. Moreover, the artwork, and to an even further extent the whole exhibition, gave way the thought of what I can consider to family and what relationships I should hold dear to me. The manager mention that the vineyard could possibly expand another 5 acres if needed, but after that, all the land has been used. Because Fenn valley has reached capacity on their farm, they are receiving grapes from three other farms in South West Michigan through contracts. It leaves man either a slave to substance or a walking corpse. When users reach the end of the line, and realize their actions are in no way helpful, they may seek rehabilitation. During rehabilitation, addicts may go through withdrawal. Withdrawal is both an important and demanding time for recovering addicts. Withdrawal as a whole, and moreover its two stages, acute and post acute withdrawal, is by no means an easy trial to endure. Withdrawal occurs when a person stops using an agent such as alcohol, narcotics, or any other addictive substance. This stage of recovery typically results in a number of uncomfortable side effects. Common symptoms experienced by recovering addicts include depression, seclusion, anxiety, insomnia, petulance, perspiration, nausea, and tremors. Contrary to what would be assumed, alcoholics actually have one of the most dangerous withdrawal periods. Along with the previously listed symptoms, they also risk seizures, heart attacks, strokes, and hallucinations. Despite the obstacles faced during the withdrawal ... The exact length of acute withdrawal is rather inconsistent, as would be expected, seeing as how people are fundamentally different. Despite the overall irregularity, this phase typically lasts up to a month or so. As is the case with the length of this period, the symptoms vary greatly from person to person. Acute withdrawal seems to be the time span when the majority of the physical symptoms are experienced, albeit one person generally will not be exposed to all of them. Acute withdrawal may leave an addict thinking that all the effort they put into recovery is futile, but they hold out hope that one day they will be able to live a normal ... Later, in 1899, Rayleigh threw out the suggestion that the phenomenon in question might be due to the fact that the molecules of air themselves exercised a scattering effect on the rays of light. In 1914 Cabannes succeeded in showing experimentally that pure and dustless gases also have the capacity of scattering rays of light. But a closer examination of scattering in different substances in solid, liquid, or gaseous form showed that the scattered light did not in certain respects exactly follow the laws which, according to calculation, should hold good for the Tyndall effect. The hypothesis which formed the basis of this effect would seem to involve, amongst other things, that the rays scattered to the sides were polarized. This, however, did not prove to be exactly the case. This divergence from what was to be expected was made the starting point of a searching study of the nature of scattered light, in which study Raman was one of those who took an active part.
