able to redefine her identity as an African American woman and better understand her relationship to

connection to her African heritage. As a graduate student doing research on slavery, she stumbled

easy form that takes place on the internet and social media like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

order to gain control of their lives. Social media like Facebook makes information about the person s

Valmiki s Ramayana has transcended being simply a folktale, and has manifested itself into an
embodiment of virtues. It has great influence over the expectation of a women in the society; the
status and the ideal itself has been conferred upon them by the Ramayana which depict Sita as the
ideal wife worthy of being emulated by Hindu women. There is a similar, recurring pattern that seems
to unfold for any women depicted in the Ramayana who actively stray beyond this idea model. These

Throughout history, dozens of countries have adopted isolationist policies on countless different
occasions. For example, in the United States in the 1930 s, many Americans felt that amidst the Great
Depression, the government should focus its efforts on solving problems at home before intervening in
international affairs. Furthermore, today, totalitarian dictators often isolate their countries in order to
consolidate their power, as is the case in North Korea and Eritrea. Yet while isolationism itself was not
unique to the 19th century, the manner in which both China and Japan departed from isolationist
policies under imperialist pressures was unique.
When Japan and China enacted isolationist policies in the 16th century, Japan and China were among
the most advanced countries in the world. Both nations felt that they did not need to nor desired to
