- 29. Kris Vallotton: "I am saddened by the anti-church movement that is being propagated by Christians. It is somehow tied to the type of "grace of God" teaching that has no value for personal responsibility, accountability and discipline. This movement ignores much of the teaching of Jesus. For example, the parable of the talents, where people were reward or punished according to THEIR faithful labor. It also seems to forget that we are commanded to make disciples not convert people to Christianity. This teaching makes no place for fathers, mothers or authority, yet the theme of the entire Bible is family. Our heavenly FATHER is looking for a bride for His SON, which ultimately climaxes in a wedding. Hebrews 12 tells that the difference between sons and bastards is their ability to receive discipline. You can throw the family out the door because someone misused their authority in your life but you will just be cohabiting and calling it a covenant. This grieves the heart of the Father and brings me to tears."
- 30. Rich Oliver Here is the question that separates the religious from the righteous: Do you see God as your heavenly Father, your Papa? A religious person will hesitate to respond, scandalized by the thought that he can speak of the Almighty in such familiar terms. Then a verse will come to mind and he will say, “I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God…” A religious person is content to be nothing more than a servant, and thus they miss the best thing of all.

The devil’s desire is to have you so confused about your identity that you will relate to God in any way except as a son. A religious person will usually relate to God as a Master, but Jesus came to reveal the Father. Perhaps you left the pig trough with a prepared speech that began, “make me like one of your hired hands” (Lk 15:19). God is not interested in that speech! He is not recruiting servants; He wants sons! Like the prodigal, you may see yourself as no more than a servant, but God sees you as a son (Rms 8:15, Gal 4:6). Don’t argue with your Father!
