Elise brings Emily tea and asks how long Emily has lived with her parents, to which Emily responds that she no longer lives with them and instead lives with a friend named Mark. When Elise assumes Mark is Emily's boyfriend, Emily clarifies that they are just friends and that she actually has a girlfriend. Elise is surprised by this revelation.

- 1. Idea 2- Draft Script EMILY is sitting on her grandmother’s (ELISE’S) sofa. The room isn’t very modern and relatively bland. ELISE comes in with two cups of tea and hands one to EMILY. ELISE Here you go my love EMILY Thank you. How long have you lived here then? ELISE Oh I don’t know, too long. I expect the nurses will put me in a home soon. Anyway, whereabouts do you all live now? Emily looks down at her hands. EMILY I er, I don’t live with mum and dad anymore. Moved in with a friend ELISE Oh how lovely! What’s her name? EMILY His name is Mark. ELISE Oh, sorry honey. Is he your boyfriend? Emily shifts uncomfortably in her seat. EMILY No definitely not. We’re just friends. I’ve known him for ages. ELISE I see. Is there a boyfriend at all? Emily looks at Elise and makes direct eye contact. She smiles. EMILY Actually, I have a girlfriend. Elise draws back. ELISE Excuse me? EMILY I’m gay.
