Private career colleges need to restructure their courses and their support in a manner that will provide
graduates with a higher success rate in achieving gainable employment, in their field, post graduation.
The Most Practical – easily implemented
Publish each school’s hire and retain rates.
This would affect student’s selection of Private Career Colleges and employers would likely be influenced by the
statistics as well. This would make the schools more accountable for consistently teaching and training students
that are graduating prepared for the workforce.
The Most Disruptive – big impact, no limitations
Simulators for additional quality experience
For technical trades and construction based trades colleges, simulators would allow for up to the minute training
on all the current machines/equipment without the initial dangers of on site training. It would allow for graduated
training and better procedural understanding of the equipment and machines. It would also make a students
understanding and operation of the equipment easier to grade. Once a student mastered the simulator, then they
could move on to an actual job site / equipment.
My Favourite –
Volunteer time on community projects to get additional experience.
A great way for students to get experience and the community to benefit from their time and their talents.
