The 2002 DC Sniper attacks involved John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo shooting and killing 10 people around the Washington D.C. area over a three week period in October, injuring three others, in what became one of the most highly publicized crimes in the U.S. The snipers demanded $10 million to stop the attacks, which they claimed was to start a Utopian country, before they were eventually apprehended by police in Maryland on October 24th, ending the deadly shooting spree.
