Objective
To discuss the elements in the
Implementation and Value Creation of
innovation.
Implementation of
Innovation
https://ipacso.eu/innovation-modelling/innovation-model-analysis.html
6 key factors that shape the process and
outcomes of innovation implementation
1.Policies , procedures and processes
 Policies normally serve as an enforcement tool
(Ahmad Fauzi Ismail,2021)
 Procedures a high level of how things should works across
different entities.
 Process standard operating procedures
2. Building a culture of innovation
3. Management support
4. Availability of financial resources.
5. Learning orientation
6. Top Management Commitment
Technological Innovation
Technological innovation is the knowledge of components, linkages
between components, methods, processes and techniques that go
into a product or service. It may or may not require administrative
innovation. It can be a product, a process, or a service. Product or
service innovations should be new products or services aiming at
satisfying some market needs. Process innovation is concerned with
introducing new elements into an organization's operations such as
input materials, task specifications, work and information flow
mechanisms, and equipment used to produce a product or render a
service (Afuah, 1998).
Social Compact
 A non-profit organization who make use of
technology and innovation to implement
significant innovation in the world of community
development.
 They make use of mental mapping concept and
drill down process to document market
strengths of communities throughout the United
States.
Mental Mapping
 A mental map is a person's point-of-view perception of
their area of interaction. Although this kind of subject
matter would seem most likely to be studied by fields in the
social sciences, this particular subject is most often
studied by modern-day geographers.
 Social Compact research staff identified mental mapping
as one way to better determine: (1) which retailers
residents are more likely to visit, including specifications
on preferred retail chains; (2) the location of these
retailers; (3) modes of transportation residents use to
reach their destination; (3) the frequency with which
residents visit these retailers; and (4) the amount of dollars
residents spend on particular goods and services.

Drill Down Process
is a process of ‘reduction in stages’
of the problem for its
largest components down to
its
smallest manageable
pieces
• Start by writing the problem down on the left-hand side of a large sheet of paper.
• On the right of each point, write down the points that make up the next level of detail.
• Repeat this process, for each new point that you identify.
• Keep on drilling down until you have identified all of the factors contributing to the original problem.
• This technique can be used in conjunction with the 5 Why Analysis to ensure that you investigate each
aspect of the problem.
Value Creation
 You don't have innovation if your new ideas aren't
creating value. Organizations must implement
ideas and programs identified as most effective
in delivering value to stakeholders.
4 innovation tools
 Need-finding
 Framing
 Creative combination
 Prototyping
Need-finding
To understand the
customer's
experience,
researchers look
for gaps in
customer service
because they may
represent
opportunities.
2 basic kinds of
need finding tools
a. Observations
b. Interviews
Framing
 Identifying ‘value-frames’
allows the academic
team to be more
purposeful in aligning
project focus to partner
objectives, thereby
increasing impact
potential.
Creative
combination
 The process of creative combination happens
when concepts are gathered together and the
focus turns to developing the best options for
meeting the needs identified by customers. At this
stage, individual effort must expand to encompass
a diversity of viewpoints.
PROTOTYPING
 Captures those ideas considered worthy of more
detailed study.
 Prototyping is common in the design professions for
physical artifacts.
 The first prototype is never the final one, but as the
process continues, the nature of the inquiry results in
finer levels of detail.
Importance of prototyping
 Better depict the intent of your final design
 Defend your design decisions with customer feedback
 Save time and money by making changes early rather than in final
development
 Feel confident that what your presenting has a strong product-market
fit
Prototyping Tools
1. InVision
 best prototyping tool for building exceptional products
in one, connected workflow
 Compatibility with most popular graphics file formats
like PNG, GIF, PSD, JPG, and others
Prototyping Tools
2. Balsamiq
 best prototyping tool for building wireframes. Balsamiq helps
you quickly design mockups that are great for sketching and
wire framing.
Prototyping Tools
3. Justinmind
 best all-in-one prototyping
tool for web and mobile
apps
 lets you design from scratch
and leverage a full range of
web interactions and mobile
gestures, so you can focus
on building exceptional user
experiences.
Prototyping Tools
4. Figma
• best prototyping tool for
designing collaboratively
• is truly a one-tool solution for all
of your design needs. Thanks to
real-time collaboration, web-
based functionality, and
exceptional price-to-value,
Figma is rising through the ranks
and gaining traction with design
teams.
Prototyping Tools
5. Adobe XD
 best prototyping tool for enterprise business
 provides you access to all your assets in one place,
eliminates tedious manual tasks, create experiences
that are adaptable to any size screen, and integrates
seamlessly with the User Testing platform.
