This paper reviews the enhancement of weld images utilizing gamma rays and image processing techniques in MATLAB to improve flaw detection in welding inspections. It explores various methods such as fuzzy logic, edge detection, and clustering for effective image segmentation and analysis, ultimately proposing an updated image processing algorithm suitable for weld inspection applications. The findings indicate that image segmentation, particularly using gray-scale based fuzzy c-means clustering and canny edge detection, outperforms traditional image enhancement methods in detecting welding defects.
