Improvements from our preliminary task
- 1. Have we improved as a film maker from you Preliminary task task? Lianne Woolley
- 2. Carpet in our shot that we removed from the warehouse before filming. This is our opening shot of our preliminary task. We have learnt that we need to prepare our self for removing things from out set for example in this show you can see the carpet that we removed from the warehouse so we could film. We have also got the companies sign in the shot where we filmed.
- 3. In our opening two minutes to a horror film we have used an over the shoulder shot. I think that we have improved this shot because the one from our preliminary task the camera is positioned behind the character not actually on his shoulder. We also made sure that we couldn’t see any kind of signs/companies etc. to ruin the shot.
- 4. Double shot: this shows both characters in the same shot to help the audience understand what is going on. We have used this type of shot in our opening but it is improved. We have made sure that nothing is in the way i.e the door in the prelim. Because we have improved on this, in our film, you can see both characters allowing the audience to see what is going on.
- 5. We have used long shots in both of our products but, the one in our film is a lot better to the one used in the prelim. This is because in our film you can clearly see what is going on, where as in the prelim, it was too far away causing you to have to look very closely to see what is going on.
- 6. From our prelim task we have improved on editing and sound effect to. In our prelim we relied on the sounds around us, which at the start is very hard to here what the characters are saying because of the traffic in the background. We also used a gun sound effect at the end which sounded a bit out of place. We have improved on this a lot. We used a voice over at the start of our film which cut out any background noise and helped set the scene. We including music in out film to help build up tension in the audience where as we didn’t in our preliminary task. The transitions in our preliminary task were a bit jumpy and sometimes didn’t fit. In our film, we made sure they ran smoothly and make it clear to the audience it was a change of scene or a time change.
