Our production challenged some conventions of the psychological crime drama genre in its depiction of a murder scene. Specifically, it located the murder in a forest during daylight hours rather than a secluded dark area at night. It also featured a young male protagonist rather than the typical middle-aged white male. While using minimal props, the production conformed to some conventions through the use of camera angles, shot sizes, and a filter to distinguish between past and present scenes. The editing was nonlinear rather than chronological, creating ambiguity about the connection of events.
