- 2. Child Abuse in India is a rampant problem and burning issue. - 3. We discussed the awareness campaign with our mentor teacher. Many ideas came out such as: Spreading awareness amongst: Schools Social workers Juvenile homes
- 4. This unique awareness campaign touching a very sensitive and critical issue of " Child Sexual Abuse "which is eating into the Indian social fabric- became our cause for DFC Our school is fortunate enough to take up the mantle of spear heading the above campaign and creating awareness amongst the young students through the screening of a film made by TISS ( Tata Institute of Social Sciences) named “Chuppi Todo”. The film was followed by an interactive session with the audience. Pamphlets on ‘Good touch and Bad touch’ were distributed to generate awareness amongst the student .
- 6. Film “Chuppi Todo” talks about the fundamental rules related to safe touch and unsafe touch. The movie educates children from 10 years plus, about what is a Good touch, a bad touch and what is an uncomfortable touch. The school has formed a core group which is trying to sensitize the students and build their confidence and self-belief that if they feel embarrassed or uncomfortable by someone's touch, they need to speak out to friend, buddy, teacher or someone they trust. “ Do not keep Mum, talk to your Mom” .
- 7. Grade-5 & 6 students of Zenith School, Baroda Staging a Nukad- Natika/ Dance drama on offences against childern was presented covering issues like child labor & child sexual abuse. Story session on the dangers lurking inside ones own family was held by the counselor with the message being passed that never have fear or guilt when something wrong is done to you. Be bold and SPEAK UP. The BHIS counselor took a session with the children on ‘Good touch, Bad Touch & Confusing Touch’ Campaign from the school to the Society
- 9. Campaign conducted with 70 PG students pursuing their Masters in Social Work in Community Sciences ( MSU) Grade-8 students are seen here introducing themselves and also their objective. - 11. We are sensititising ourselves and the different sections of the society about an issue that was being pushed under the carpet. Spreading awareness that the victim should never be guilt ridden but have the courage to SPEAK UP. Spreading the message that the students need to be alert and always be on their guard, when interacting with relatives/strangers/shopkeepers etc. Parent community to be on the lookout for any tell tale signs or behaviour changes Students given the child line no, to be contacted in case of any untoward incident. MSU, MSW students have taken up the mantle to spear head this social issue to the community and juvenile homes.
