Multinational youth exchange – “EU – to be
or not to be”
Dear partner,
“EU – to be or not to be” will be a multinational youth exchange of 44 young
people from 7 different EU countries – Hungary, Italy, Czech Republic, Romania,
Netherlands, Greece and Germany. The project will last from 12-21
th
of June 2017
and will be held near Bremen, Germany.
Countries: 7 countries
Age of participants: 18-25 (no limit for group leaders)
Country group size – 5 participants + 1 group leader
Place: a little village in the suburbs near Bremen, Germany
Venue: A group house (something like hostel)
Days of activity: 8 activity days (excluded traveling days)
Time: 12-21
th
of June 2017
Profile of participants: It should be young people that are interested about EU,
discussing politics, sharing experiences with their peers from other countries,
talking about the difficult issues in the EU such as immigration, refugees, shared
policies, but also talking about the good things like sharing values, economic
freedom, the freedom of movement and so on. The youngsters should speak good
English since it will be a lot of workshops with debating, panels, talking,
presentations and so on. It is preferable that at least 30% of the participants are
youngsters with fewer opportunities.
Short description about the youth exchange:
After the Brexit a lot of Euro-skeptics have raised their voices of wanting to exit EU
or highlighting the challenges that the EU is having: in float of refugees from all over
the world, challenges with the borders, decreased economic growth in the EU
because of the economic challenges and bailouts of some countries. EU has
challenges and that’s clear. But also there are much bigger benefits of being in EU.
We want young people to discuss and learn about those challenges and those
benefits. We want them to be aware of what being in the EU means. We want them
to ask the difficult questions on the problems that the EU has, but also to be
focused on figuring out solutions.
Therefore we invited partner organizations from the most EU skeptic counties and
the biggest EU believers.
On the end we are expecting the
youngsters to send a message to their
politicians on what kind of Europe they
want to see in the future and to ask them
to work in that direction, because that is
the mandate of the politicians – to
represent our opinions and goals. We will
also make political declaration with the
conclusions from this youth exchange and
we are going to send it to the relevant political and public factors – mayors, PMs,
administration and so on.
We want the young people to take leadership role in shaping the EU, and not just
watching how the older generations make decisions in our name.
We are going to use different methods of non-formal education: simulations,
debates, world café, panel discussions, study visits, mixing with the locals, different
presentations, workshops, task forces etc.
Program
Please keep in mind that this is draft program, which will be changed and
developed until the start.
Travel costs and reimbursement
Travel costs limit: Be aware that Erasmus + is a co-financing program, so if you
exceed the limit on your travel costs, each participant has to cover the difference
themselves.
Netherlands = 80€
Hungary, Romania, Italy, Greece, Czech Republic = 170€
Germany = 20€
Reimbursement of travel costs: The travel costs reimbursements are going to be
made after the project. We are going to transfer directly to the partner
organization.
Apart from flying or trains, participants can arrive traveling with a van, but only as a
group. If you are interested to travel like that, please contact us since the rules are
quite complicated.
All costs for accommodation, food and program will be covered from the
organizers. All youngsters need to have valid insurance for Germany.
Partner responsibilities
Expectations from the partner organizations concerning responsibilities:
- Promotion of the youth exchange in front of young people that can be interested
to participate
- conducting application and selection process (in order to make sure that the
youngsters come for the right reasons and they have right expectations)
- Support and preparation of participants prior to arrival (flights, national evening,
insurance etc)
- Cultural preparation for the participants
- Post exchange evaluation
- Writing an article and promoting the project in the partner country.
- Dissemination of the results with other partner organizations.
