 Information system is the formal data (storing,
processing, knowledge, providing information)
i.e knowledgeable data . A business firm and
many organization is save experience and
operations .
 Information system can be used to run internally
supply chain and electronic market. In industries,
it is used to financial management, human
resource, customer and online marketing
 It is the combination of hardware, software,
processing, technology and data.

 Hardware:- This term is the physical which can
be used for collect information. Like that CPU,
keyboard, mouse, disk drive and communication
devices.
 Technology (Software):- Actually, this is
refer to the software which is used for flexibility
and usability of the program. Basically, software
are two types first one is System software
(Operating System) and Application software.
 Data:- It is the raw thing of the information.
Data is the collection of thing like that your
name, age, city and all separate content
which is not useful called data.
 Process:- This component is use for achieve
the goal of firm or organization. Process is
the converting steps.
 There are five basic types
Transaction Processing System (TPS)
Management Information System (MIS)
Decision Support System (DSS)
Executive Information System(EIS)

 Transaction Processing System are structured
systems at the bottom of the pyramid. Every
organization needs to process transactions in
daily business life.
 Depend on the organization’s business,
transactions may different from one
organization to another. example In a retailer
business, sale of goods, billing of goods,
shipping, purchasing etc.,

 MIS is the semi-structured system at the
middle of the pyramid. this is also known as
Tactical management.
 MIS are used by tactical managers to check
current performance of the organization. MIS
is used input from Transaction Processing
System. Example

 DSS are designed for manager to execute a
specific problem or task. DSS are use input from
Management Information System and
Transaction Processing System.
 Basically, Decision support systems have more
analytical power as comparison to other
information systems. This is used for more
analysis or summaries data. It is used for more
complex problem. They provide an interactive
environment so that the users could work with
them directly, add or change data as per their
requirements, and modify technology.

 It is focus on customer satisfaction
 Process orientation is the employee
interaction i.e focuses itself in organization.
 Some major functional area of Business
Process:

 SupplyChain Management
 Accounting and Finance
 Human Resources
 IT or MIS
 Quality
 In Business function, Activities specific to a
functional area of operation.
• Functional areas are internally dependent
• Better integration of different functional
areas like that production, marketing, sales
and IT.
• Business function flows the UP and Down
process.
Business function subdivided into:-
 Transportation : warehousing and order
processing;
 Sales and Marketing:- Survey, advertising,
direct marketing services (online), workshop and
other services.
 Information Technology:- hardware, software
consultancy and custom.
 Management function:- Governance
services, accounting, auditing, business
management, HR and other administrator work.
