- 3. • In 1967, ARPA proposed an idea to develop a small network of connected computer called Arpanet. In this network, each computer was connected to a specialized computer called interface message processor (IMP), which was connected to other IMPs. In 1969, ARPANET was implemented. Four computers at different geological location were connected through the IMPs to from a network. • In the late 1980s , the U.S National science Foundation(NSF) started exploring ways to enable access of their super computer to researches at various collages and universities. The NSF developed a network called the National Sciences Foundation Network switched over to the NSFNET.
