With our Country, county and cities infrastructure, security, and unity decreasing stability, the need for
community involvement, awareness and participation have never been greater than they are now.
Before I proceed I would like to inform you that I have established g-mail, Facebook, Hoot Suite and
Slide Share accounts for each of the 6 districts in Stockton to prepare for implementation of the “No
Place Like Home” campaign. Additionally the Push K Giving portal has been created for District 6. The
additional districts are pending your decision and ability to obtain agreement from the I.O.O.F to
administer the Push K Giving portals as they must be ran through a 501(c). The campaign itself is
intended to become a broader national movement with Stockton as the forerunner with this campaign.
The campaign is designed to run independently of political parties to ensure long term administration.
I have reviewed several alternative avenues as to whom I should entrust the concept to and under
which jurisdiction. Ultimately I decided to return my initial instinct of having Stockton implement the
program. This decision was made on several personal factors and beliefs. Stockton is the hometown of
my childhood. My community played a strong role in my successes. Stockton has made headlines on
several topics over the past five-eight years which is in favor of the program. If Stockton can succeed
during a crisis larger than that of its historical record while in the eye of the nation the remainder of the
nation can be inspired and release their excuses.
I have elected you for your ability to :
o Remain engaged with the general population on a meaningful, functional level
o Continued desire to improve conditions for our youth
o Ability to uphold your convictions
o Your position of influence
o Belief that you are most likely to remain dedicated to your efforts to improve the city after your
term has ended
The No Place Like Home campaign is technically the first phase of a much larger campaign named True
Impact- Sister Cities of Hope. With this in mind I would like for the “No Place Like Home” campaign to be
publicized under the umbrella of “True Impact” which will bring the “Sisters Cities of Hope” campaign
forward soon after the “No Place Like Home” campaign has been kicked off and is operating in full
swing. I will cover additional details about the “Sister Cities of Hope” movement a bit later so we may
review the concept in the phases in which it is to be implemented.
The concept was designed a little more than five years ago and held back deliberately to ensure success.
At this point all of the organizations that I would like to facilitate the concept through have expressed
hardships on a national scale due to our changing environment. The general population has more trust
in their own abilities than those who represent them. The insecurity has acted as a catalyst that
motivates the general public to become more active. These conditions are necessary for the concept to
procure mass interest in becoming proactive.
There are various human habits and mentality taken into consideration of the design in addition to an
emphasis placed on simplicity and cost avoidance.
Once a decision has been made to proceed the announcement of the program should be emailed to
each of the cities Chamber of Commerce’s and the School District. A request would be submitted to
these entities to share with their members via their mass email communications such as email and
newsletters in addition to the social media outlets at preferred. This is designed to heighten awareness
to the constituents who are already engaged in their community’s affairs in addition to those who are
less likely to be active but the most effected, our youth, their families and their communities.
I would recommend revisiting the mass email and social media publication process quarterly during the
first year and semi-annual thereafter.
Centralized information as it pertains to our community will provide a convenient forum for our busy
residents to stay engaged with their communities’ needs and offerings utilizing convenient methods of
communication. Thus maintaining and improving our community strength and unity.
An online charitable giving website named Push K Giving is ideal for this endeavor as it permits detailed
listings, goals and progress reports for several charitable drives within one website. This website would
then be able to feed information as it pertains to each benefit drive to multiple social media pages
which can be consolidated through the Hoot Suite Social Media Management platform, permitting
residents to view local events and local benefit drives in a centralized location regardless of social media
preference.
The Push K Giving tool allows donors to establish accounts and make charitable contributions online
using a variety of payment methods through various communication channels. Payments are delivered
to the receiving entity’s financial institution within three business days. These transactions will
automatically update the online progress monitor. Contributions received outside of the online tool can
be entered by the back office administrator to update the progress monitor as well. The site is designed
to state detailed needs and status updates of each cause. The multi cause platform is beneficial so
donors who are donating to a specific cause can view additional causes that benefit their district.
Awareness will garner additional participation.
I have broken the giving portals down by district for three reasons.
o Competitive nature of humans
o Donors are most encouraged to donate when they benefit and can see the results
o Humans enjoy peer unity and comradery as exhibited in special interest groups, clubs,
organizations and gang affiliations.
Donors who establish an online user account will have the ability to print charitable giving history and
tax reports as needed for added convenience. Additionally they will have the ability to use their same
username and login to view and donate to as many districts as they wish as established through the
portal which will track and provide printable reports of their combined tax deductible donations for
them as added convenience.
The I.O.O.F would be responsible for adding causes to the portal for each district and issuing
distributions to the donee beneficiary. The I.O.O.F. would have the ability to state their own causes in
addition to receiving funds through the General Fund election which they could then select the causes
they feel would benefit the community the greatest as is their mission.
The I.O.O.F was selected as the desired 501c3 due to their international exposure (which will be
required for the Sister Cities of Hope Campaign), history, mission statement and emphasis of importance
as stated on their website. The message they convey is the heart of these two concepts.
I am somewhat limited to my ability to assist in proceeding if desired as I am a single mother who is
employed full time out of the area. However I am able to work remotely in the evenings if needed for
any purpose.
I look forward to the opportunity to speak with you and clarify details further.
If you would not mind I would like to request that you keep my identity confidential for personal
reasons.
I am attaching a few odds and ends for your review.
Thank you for taking the time to review my concept.
Sincerely,
Heather Heggen
