- 2. Definition of Introductory Phrase An introductory phrase or a word is set apart from the rest of the sentence using a comma. Ex: After it rains, there are a lot of rainbows. Ex: In a rainbow, there are many colors.
- 3. Introductory Words There are also introductory words. There are certain words that can act as introductory phrases.
