- 2. What is Microsoft Lync Online Microsoft Lync Online is a communication service that connects people in new ways, at any time, from anywhere. Connect with other people through instant messaging (IM), contact photos, social updates, and interactive contact cards. View peoples’ presence status and click-to-communicate from within Office applications. Move IMs into ad hoc online meetings with audio, video, and screen sharing. Schedule and conduct online presentations with customers and colleagues. Connect with external customers and partners through IM, audio and video, and online meetings by using the Lync client or web-based application. Connect with your Windows Live contacts using instant messaging, audio, and video.

Lync Online Key Features • Me Area provides quick access to settings and information that you want to share with other people, such as presence, picture, location, and notes. • Contacts offers presence and availability information, pictures, contact cards, frequent contacts and other information, enabling personal connections with colleagues and customers.
