• Atoms consists of protons, neutrons and electrons. These electrons
move around the nucleus of the atom. Electricity is produced due to
the movement of electrons.
Types of electricity
• There are two types of electricity- Static electricity and Current
electricity.
• When two materials are rubbed together static electricity occurs.
Lightning is static electrical. Benjamin Franklin conducted the kite
experiment and realized that lightning is static.
• Current electricity is due to the flow of charged particles in a circuit.

• Benjamin Franklin – Lightning is electrical
• Alessandro Volta – Electric battery- volt, which is unit of voltage
• Michael faraday – Electromagnetic induction
• Thomas Alva Edison – Electric bulb – DC system
• Nikola Tesla – AC system
• Andre Marie Amp –Unit of current, amp
• Georg Simon ohm –Ohm’s law and unit of resistance, ohm
Current Electricity
• A circuit which is closed loop through which current flows.
• It consists of conductors (wire), switch, load and a power source.
Parameters in a circuit
• Voltage- Potential difference between two point in a circuit.
• Current- I = Q / t, where Q is the charge and t is the time.
• Resistance- restriction to the flow of current.
• Ohm’s law States that V = I R
