Programmes and implemented through public health
services.
• The sum total of all the organizations, institutions
and resources whose primary purpose is to improve
health.

National Iodine Deficiency Disorders
Control Programme (NIDDCP)
Objectives :
• Surveys of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (IDD) in
districts and survey in every five years.
• Supply of iodated salt in place of common salt.
• Health education and publicity.
• Monitoring of iodated salts in labs and excretion
of urinary iodine.

• Ministry implement and create the NIDDCP.
• Increased the consumption of iodated salt
from 51.1% (2005-2006) to 71.1% in 2009.
• National Reference Laboratory monitor IDD,
four regional laboratories and 35 state

(NLEP)
Objectives :
• To reduce the rate of leprosy at national as well as district
level.
• Reduce grade II disability % < among new cases at national

Japanese encephalitis .
