Iot based home automation
1. Home Automation
2. Internet of Things
Automation of house, house work, household activities.
● Simplicity
● Affordability
Iot based home automation
a scenario in which objects, animals or people are
providedwith unique identifiers
and the ability to transfer data
over a network without requiring
human-to-human or human-to-
computer interaction.
Iot based home automation
 Control most of your devices at home using your Laptop
or phone.
 Get feedback about the status of your home via Internet.
 Provide an easily and comfortable way to control your
home devices from any place.
 People usually are outside the home for many reasons like
travelling and they want to control some devices from a far
distance. Examples:
 Want to fill the water tank.
 Want to turn off the light and electronic devices at rooms.
 Get feedback about the temperature.
 If somebody at your home.
 Total control on your home.
 Home automation gives you access to control devices in
your home from a laptop , mobile device, anywhere in
the world.
 Home automation more accurately describes homes in
which nearly everything -- lights, appliances, electrical
outlets, heating and cooling systems -- are hooked up to
a remotely controllable network

• Arduino is a microcontroller board based on the
ATmega328.
• It has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can
be used as PWM outputs).
• 6 analog inputs.
• A 16 MHz Crystal.
• A USB connection.
• A power jack.
• A reset button
• 28 pin PDIP Package IC
• 8-bit Microcontroller
• 2k bytes of SRAM
• 32K bytes of on chip Flash
• 1K byte of EEPROM
• One serial port - USART
• Three parallel ports - PB, PC and PD
• Three timers(Two 8-bit and One 16-bit)
• 6 PWM Channels
• 6-channel 10-bit ADC
• One SPI interface
• One I2C interface
• One WatchDog Timer
• Internal and External Interrupts
• High Performance and Low Power consumption.
 Sending it AT commands from a computer via an USB to
serial adapter. This is mostly useful for testing and setup.
 Interfacing with an Arduino or any other microcontoller
and using this board as a peripheral.
Iot based home automation
 There are 5 Pins in a
relay. Two pins 1 and 2
are two ends of a coil
that are kept inside the
relay. The coil is
wound on a small rod
that gets magnetized
whenever current
passes through it.
 Arduino
 Webpage
 The open-source Arduino Software (IDE) makes
it easy to write code and upload it to the
board. It runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and
Linux.
 The environment is written in Java and based
on Processing and other open-
source software. This software can be used
with any Arduino board.
Iot based home automation
 A webpage is a document commonly written in
Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) that is
accessible through the Internet or other network
using an Internet browser.
 A web page is accessed by entering a URL
address and may contain text, graphics to other
web pages and files
 Secures Home Through Automated Door Locks.
 Increases Awareness Through Security Cameras.
 Saves Time.
 Saves Money and Increases Convenience.
 Contributes to Economy.
 Increases Peace of Mind.
 Equipment and installation costs.
 Human errors(wrong password or id in webpage and
loose connections).
 Reliability.
 Lighting Control
 Lawn Irrigation Systems: The Grass is Always
Greener
 Smart Appliances
 Security Systems
