In opencast mine, haul and transport roads are the major generating source of
particulate matters (SPM & RPM).
It contributes around 80% of total emission from an opencast coal mine.
Therefore, if we can control dust emission from mine roads, then the problem of air
pollution in mining area will be reduced significantly .
INTRODUCTION
4. Present System of Water Spraying by Tankers on Mine Road Surface
Air polluting source, i.e.
dust is not removed from
the road surface.
Due to water spraying
road surface becomes
muddy and sleepery.
After a few hours
water dries up and
dust starts emitting
again.
5. Coal Dust Collecting & Briquetting System
Patent No. IN349337
The system:
Controls air pollution,
Utilizes waste coal dust as domestic
fuel.
The system collects
coal dust from road
surface & transforms
into coal briquettes
10. Briquetting Machine & Coal Briquettes
Gross Calorific Value of coal briquettes:
2556 – 3077 Kcal/kg
Bentonite is used as
binding material:
Mineralogical composition
is calcium hydrated
aluminosilicate:
Al2O2 16 - 19 %
SiO2 48 - 60 %
Fe2O3 4 - 7 %
CaO 6 - 10 %
MgO3 2.5 - 4 %

Major contents:
Road dust collecting and briquetting system

Speciality of the system:
It can be used on uneven mine roads,
It can collect heavy amount of dust accumulated
on mine roads,
It can collect lump size up to 40 cm (by hose
suction pipe),
It can be used as industrial vacuum cleaner.
Machine can be used also in coal handling plant
for cleaning spillages from radius upto 100 m
using centralized pipeline system.
It can also be used as industrial air filtering
system in confined space like crushing and
screening plants etc.
13. Size of dust collected up to 40 cm (mixture
of dust and solid lumps)
The system cleared both solid lumps and
dust at a speed of 10 km/h

The system effectively gathers large amount of dust from mine roads,
resulting in a cleaner mine environment and improved visibility that
reduces the risk of accidents.
The system reduces the cost of air pollution control measures.
Implementation of the system leads to a decrease in coal wastage,
providing an economic advantage to the coal mining industry through the
sale of coal briquettes.
