This document provides an overview of key iPad features including the home screen, search screen, apps, settings, folders, and the App Store. It also includes instructions on how to bypass the iBoss web filter to access restricted sites, sign into an existing Apple ID, bookmark favorite websites to the home screen, and request apps through a provided form that must be filled out and submitted for approval.
iPad Features Overview
- 2. This is the home screen. Whenever I refer to the home screen, this is what I'm talking about.
- 3. This is the search screen. You get to this screen by sliding the page all the way to the right when you are on the home screen. You can type in any keyword and it will find anything relevant to it that is on your iPad.
- 4. This is an app (application). Apps can be free or paid. You can by apps in the App Store.
- 5. • Thisis the Settings app. Settings is where you will adjust you iPad settings such as putting in your iTunes account, setting the brightness, putting in your email information, etc.
- 6. These are folders. Folders are groups of two or more apps. You can group apps however you want sand name them whatever you want.
- 7. HOW TO BYPASS THE IBOSS WEB FILTER
- 8. • Click on the iBoss icon we created on your home screen.
- 9. • Clickon log-in as different user.
- 10. • Input the information it asks you for. Your username and password is the same one you use to log in to your computer.
- 11. • Make sure to keep this window open at all times when you are using the school's WiFi or you will not be able to access the App Store and many other features.
- 12. HOW TO SIGN IN USING YOUR EXISTING APPLE ID.
- 13. Click on Settings which is on on your homepage.
- 14. Then click on Store.
- 15. Then click on Sign In.
- 16. It will then ask you whether you want to Sign In with using an existing Apple ID or if you would like to create a new Apple ID. Choose use Existing Apple ID.
- 17. NOW YOU ARE SIGNED IN!
- 18. HOW TO BOOKMARK FAVORITES TO YOUR HOME PAGE
- 19. • To be able to access webpages that you use often, it will be essential that you save them to your homepage.
- 20. • Tobookmark a webpages to your home screen, you will need to open Safari. Then type in the web address that you want to bookmark.
- 21. • Once you go to the webpage you want to bookmark, click on the bookmark icon (it looks like a rectangle with an arrow coming out of it). Then select Add to Home Screen.
- 22. • Itwill now let you name the bookmark whatever you want. Then press the blue Add button. Now you have successfully added a webpage to your Home Screen!
- 23. THE APP STORE
- 24. This is the App Store. If you look at the bottom it is categorized by Featured, Genius, Top Charts and Category.
- 25. Featured apps are those chosen by Apple. The subcategories in Featured are: New, What's Hot and Release Date. You can also keyword search for an app.
- 26. To buy an app click on it.
- 27. Then click where it gives you the payment info.
- 28. Then input your Apple ID & password information. Then click OK.
- 29. Then it will take you to home screen were you will see the icon and it shows a bar on the bottom showing you the progress of the download.
- 31. This is what the App Request Form looks like. You can search in the App Store to find apps you want the school to buy. Fill out the information and either give it to me or email to me.
- 32. Name of App Please fill this in as detailed as possible to make sure I buy the right app for you.
- 33. Developer of App Please list this because often the apps have then same name but are made by different developers.
- 34. Price List the price of the app.
- 35. Once I get the App Request Form, I will then get it approved or denied. If approved I will then buy it for you and send you a link or code that you can then redeem for the app. I will elaborate on this procedure at a later date.
