This document discusses automating the filling process in solid materials packaging machines using an electromagnetic vibratory feeder controlled via phase angle control. The vibratory feeder uses a vibratory motor attached to an unbalanced mass to create vibrations for moving materials. A load cell measures the weight of materials being filled and provides a signal to a microcontroller. The microcontroller uses pulse width modulation to trigger thyristors that control the phase angle of the power supplied to the vibratory motor. This allows precise control of motor speed and vibration amplitude for automated filling based on weight measurements from the load cell. Phase angle control provides flexibility to automate the filling process and reduce labor requirements for monitoring in packaging applications.
