This document discusses re-evaluating parameters for measuring research impact. It outlines issues with current methods of calculating impact solely based on citation counts. The current methods make it difficult to compare research across different fields and disciplines that have varying publication and research practices. The document proposes additional parameters to consider for a more robust measurement of impact, including weighting research areas based on citations in that area over time, accounting for the significance and viability of the research field, eliminating self-citations in review papers, and combining citations from multiple papers on the same topic to reduce duplication. The goal is to develop a system that can better cater to current demands and mitigate issues with existing approaches to measuring research impact.
