Some initial data:Some initial data:
`
Yesterday:
Internet driven by universities (1992)
Mid period: 1992-2002:
Companies moving on the Internet.
Internet driven by business.
End of period (today): 2009-2011:
Users captive to few companies via the Internet.
Internet shared by a limited number of technologies owned
by a limited number of companies.
What is kept:What is kept:
- the core communication way (TCP/IP, IPV4,
IPV6)
- the core Internet services, adapted to increasing
security threads
- the on-line services build around web based
technology
What is different:What is different:
- users are watched by merchants and not only by merchants,
using the core technology. It may be done at every click and
on every communication device if needed, even if it is not
always known by the end user.
Today privacy is only for experts which know in detail the
technolgy and protect by themself.
Each Internet user is a fraction in the business plans of few
companies owning the on-line technologies
- few companies share 95% of the Internet users. They fight
to connect as many users as possible and to fit them with the
companies using their particular technologies
- social networks try to sell the information from their users
by making a revenue chain out of this.
Where do we go:Where do we go:
- towards on-line objects which will home-
manufacured in reality by volume printers
- towards interactive media which means
revolution of broadcasting and more virtual reality
- towards humanized communication devices used
as unified terminals to the biggest multimedia
kiosk called Internet
- towards 99.5% consumers and 0.5% producers
on the Internet.
- towards games based mainly on virtual reality
enable creation of personages that may be sold to
other users
What is confusing:What is confusing:
- the large number of options in most on-line
applications that we interact via Internet reduce
creativity
- governments try to regulate and restrict access to
the on-line resources accesible via Internet. This
creates large damage to the Internet spirit and to
creativity.
- merchants are scared by security issues and
impose rules to the Internet usage such as to
protect their assets.
What ISOC may try to do:What ISOC may try to do:
- encurage creativity among Internet user
categories. To develop applications stimulating
creativity mainly for non-techies in IT&C
- solve copyright issues by clever technologies and
not by governments' rules
- secure the network by creating individual
signatures for on-line access to resources (to get,
put or use the virtual objects on the Internet).
Security of on-line world may be largely solved by
authorised individual identity.
- fight to make users independent from companies.
Right for a free choice on the Internet.
Recommendations for a normal InternetRecommendations for a normal Internet
user (non techie):user (non techie):
- avoid interaction with complicated technologies. Time to learn and
complexity of some on-line applications make the users captive and
they cannot use their creativity in their field of interest.
- social networking usage is better to be limited in time. Several
reasons may be detailed
- to adapt interactively to the on-line media by keeping its own
behaviour and profile
- forget about knowing all the technology names circulated over the
Internet. It may be a "coule de sac" for most typical users
- try to adapt to the on-line training
- try to be a producer mostly
- one hour in the nature daily recommended. Reduce to miminmum
the on-line media access during this period. Good results for health
and personal creativity
Recommendation for a hacking InternetRecommendation for a hacking Internet
