- 2. Problem We knew that the area of a rectangle was l×w, but did you know you can find the area of a circle using a similar formula? The area of a circle is πr 2 . Width Length
- 3. Process We cut 24 triangles out of a circle. We lined them up, trying to make a rectangle-like shape. We reflected on the process by answering questions and figuring out how rectangles and circles are alike.
- 4. Challenges Cutting out the pieces was a bit difficult because they had to be exact. Some of the questions were hard to answer about the process. It was challenging to find a link between the area of a rectangle, and the area of a circle.
- 5. Solution A = l×w A = c ⁄ 2 × r A = πd / 2 × r A = π2r / 2 × r A = πr × r A = πr 2 These are the steps that must be taken to see the connection between the area of a rectangle (l×w) and the area of a circle (πr 2 ).s
