Keep On Walking By Scouting For Girls
Main Production Details Title : Keep On Walking Genre : Alternative/Indie Intended Length : 3 and half minutes Band Members : Roy Stride (Vocals/Keyboard), Greg Churchouse (Bass guitar) and Peter Ellard (Percussion) James stars as Roy Stride with extras being Adam Clayden (Guitarist) and Andrew Benton as the drummer.
Genre and Stylistic Influences Other band influences are ‘You me at six’, ‘Kings of Leon’ and ‘Yeah Yous’ This indie/alternative bands all have similar stylistic conventions as Keep On Walking.
Intended Audience Scouting For Girls are adored by males and females so we want to continue this trend in our music video, our video will be aimed at females and males. The style of the music is very soft and could be aimed at early teens to late twenties. We are hoping to make our music video quite humorous so this will appeal to all viewers.
The Visual Style Our video will contain a variety of different and interesting shots as we will have a live band playing and a compelling storyline. The storyline will be filmed with walking scenes, interactive scenes and clever shots relating to the lyrics of the song. With editing we will tighten up scenes to make things flow and look more professional. We will experiment with slow motion and speeding up, we will use comic elements (repetitive calendar crossing out for example) and repeated sequences.
Sound Style Apart from the actual song playing we probably will not include any dialect in our production however we may include sound effects to support realism in our music video. The sound effects will match the lyrics for example if there is mention of a busy street, we may add crowd noise and transport noise to the production.
Mise en Scene We will be filming in many different locations, especially along the river lea which runs through Ware (Right). Ware high street is a particular place where I really want to film because of the volume of people around and the amount of effects we could experiment with, it also very realistic because its normal people living their usual lives. Our costumes will be either suited attire (After works finished) or casual clothes (changed after getting in from work).
Narrative Structure We will start our video with the main singer sitting alone at home and then have a shot of him staring into the road wishing his girlfriend was coming home, this matches with the lyrics. Band shot in bedroom, he is singing while he waits for her, shots of the band inside, a shot of James looking outside match on action as he walks towards window. “ Both knew it wouldn’t be easy” James lip syncing towards camera as if he is talking to the girl, then shot of friends comforting him. “ Never be this hard” James reading letter, screwing it up and throwing it varied camerawork sequence. Shot of crossing out calendar “its been three weeks since I had a decent sleep” “ I keep on walking chorus” tracking shots of James lip syncing in different outfits, pyjamas (classroom) suit (outside) etc to show it affects him wherever he is. We also might include close ups of my feet to emphasise the amount of walking.
Ancillary Task One The digipack for our first ancillary task will have a picture of the band walking with all their music equipment along the river as the front cover. For the back cover it would be the opposite, with our backs to the camera. Then track name and length also with reviews from famous companies.
Ancillary Task Two For our second ancillary task we are going to create an advert in a music magazine which is promoting our digipack. We will have big writing and another picture of our band so that the band would become well known already.
Team Roles James Barnes will be acting as the main character in our story (Main singer), the man waiting for his girlfriend to come home. Adam Clayden will be acting as a friend of the main character while also playing bass guitar. Andrew Benton shall also be acting as a friend but playing percussion instead. David Browning will be doing the camera work. We will agree on the footage after we’ve taken it so that we’re both happy. Both of us will do the editing for the production.
Conclusion The song is very likable and down to earth as it is about real life situations and problems. Our production will display the stress on the relationship between the main character and his girlfriend.
