Why Database as a Service
• Rapid access to databases for hosting or certifying applications especially easy with Database 12c pluggable
database.
• Self-service driven migration to pluggable database as a service in order to migrate a pre-Oracle Database 12c
database to a pluggable database as a service model and save time during testing phase.
• Provides a service catalog for all approved database as a service configurations, saving time and resources.
• Quota, role based access, and policy based management that enforces governance and reduces administrative
overhead
• Chargeback or showback which improves metering and accountability for services consumed by each database
• Minimal administrative and maintenance overhead through self-managing automation that allows for intelligent

JVMD as a Service
Oracle Confidential 47
 JDaaS is designed to enable IT orgs to allow their users to consume
JVMD, (Java Virtual Machine Diagnostics) functionality in a self-service
manner & manage all their JVMs within a web based portal
 SSA users can enable JVMD on their JVMs regardless of JVMs being
targets in the EM console.
 To enable the cloud, all that is required is to set the Quotas.
 Quotas are set to Roles and are in terms of number of monitored JVM
 Users use this functionality by downloading an agent from the SSA an
deploying it on the desired JVM.
