Before we begin, let’s understand
what is place values.
In the number 45,


       tens         ones

We can say, 45 = 4 tens 5 ones
If the number is greater,
For example, 245
If the number is greater,

       4 tens     5 ones


We can see that there are
 4 tens 5 ones.
There is also a digit ‘2’, which
stands for 2 hundreds.
If the number is greater,
  For example, 245
2 hundreds
         4 tens    5 ones


  We can see that there are
   4 tens 5 ones.
  There are also a digit ‘2’, which
  stands for 2 hundreds.
So, in a 3 digit number,

 Tens place
 Ones place
