A. Lab design
B. lab equipment &facilities e.g. :
1) Safety equipment (safety cabinets )
2) Laboratory ventilation
3) Storage chemical safety cabinet
4) Emergency equipment
5) Electrical hazard prevention
6) Decontamination and waste disposal equipment
7) Security equipment and design
Laboratory design
 The lab design must be suitable for the test which
done in it
 It has enough space for the working staff
 It is arranged according to the sample flow
Laboratory ventilation
 The ventilation system in the lab used to prevent
overexposure of personnel to chemical contaminants
generated within the laboratory.

1. Hoods
 Fume Hoods
Fume hoods are used when chemical reagents may
produce a hazardous fume.
Air flow should be checked to assure proper ventilation.
 Biological Hoods
Biological safety cabinets (BSCs)
it remove particles that may infect the person
working with the biologically infected specimen.
These hoods contain a HEPA (high-efficiency
particulate air) filter
