- 1. How can we use Lab Tools? Grade 5
- 2. Microscope Used to see very small objects (make them larger)
- 3. Thermometer Used to measure the temperature of things.
- 4. Graduated cylinder Used to measure volume very accurately.
- 5. Measuring tape Used to measure length or distance.
- 6. Digital balance Used to measure weight.
- 7. Funnel Used to pour liquids into containers with small openings or to hold filter paper
- 8. Stop watch Used to measure the length of time.
- 9. Dropper Use to drop very small amounts of liquids.
- 10. Using your knowledge of the previous lab tools • Identify and correctly use the lab tools to measure the following: 1) Friends height 2) Amount of water in the cup 3) Drop 10 drops of water 4) Measure the waters temperature 5) Weight your pencil case 6) Measure how much time you will take to do the above measurements.

- 13. Test tubes Used to heat small amounts of liquids.
- 14. Test tube brush Used to clean test tubes.
- 15. Test tube rack Used to hold test tubes when we do not need them.
- 16. Test tube holder Used to hold test tubes when they are hot.
- 17. Beaker Wide mouth container used to move, heat or store liquids.
- 18. Spatula Used to move small amount of solid and powders from place to place.
- 19. Conical flask A narrow mouthed container used to move, heat or store substances.
- 20. Hand lens Used to magnify small objects.
