This document provides an overview of insect metamorphosis and life cycles. It discusses three types of incomplete metamorphosis - ametabola, paurometabola, and hemimetabola - where the immature forms resemble the adult form to varying degrees. It also discusses holometabola, which undergo complete metamorphosis through four stages: egg, larva, pupa, and adult. Diagrams are included to illustrate the different life cycles. The objective is to provide basic knowledge about insect metamorphosis and familiarity with different types of metamorphosis. References for further information are listed at the end.
