This document presents designs for alarm systems to prevent accidents on Indian railways due to landslides and flooding. The landslide alarm system uses a steel net and wire that, when broken by a landslide, completes a circuit to light warning LEDs. The flood alarm system uses wires placed at a set water level so that rising water completes the circuit to light warning LEDs. Both systems are intended to signal trains in time to stop safely if a landslide or flooding is detected on the tracks. The designs were presented along with models to demonstrate their effectiveness in warning of potential dangers.
