Learn A Second Language
Hola, yes all U.S. students should be required to learn a second language. There are many benefits of learning a new language. You can grow your
vocabulary skills and learn about a whole new culture! As a matter of fact, we should all be equal.
Some people ask why learn Chinese if students in China are learning English? Well that doesn't mean everyone knows English. Most adults and elders
have no time to learn english. If Americans learn english there will be more job offerings. Bilingual people have a better chance at getting a job than
someone who just speaks english. In addition, you can be amazing if you learn another language.
If America wants to have cross–cultural conversations we need to learn or understand a second language.

Learning a New Language
Language is a matter that touches many American cultures. Cultures thrive on their languages and customs to define the people they are. However,
second languages can divide not only people of a specific group but also members of a particular family. Several writers address the unvarying
difficulty of learning a second language in America. Many rhetorical devices are used to sustain their assertions and to shape the reader. An Asian

American author speaks about multilingualism in American today. Tan (2002) uses rhetorical devices to support her claims about herfrustrations with a
mother who does not speak English very well. Throughout this paper, I will analyze Tan's cause–and–effect structure, personal...show more content...
Example 3 talks about how ashamed she was about her mother's broken English. Example 4 expressed her feeling of family imperfection as her
mother spoke. In the second passage, examples 5–6 show how her mother's broken English throughout her life effected how she felt about herself later
on in life. Tan puts the characteristics of her mother's linguistics on her mother herself showing her frustration from what happened to her as a child.
Tan shows her reader how she felt by explaining what happened in the past to convey how she feels now.
Another argument Tan (2002) uses throughout her text is personal experiences. Personal experiences is an argument writers use to exemplify their
points throughout personal references. The following excerpt shows Tan's personal experience exemplifying her assertions.
"Recently, I was made keenly aware of the 1) different Englishes I do use. I was giving a talk to a large group of people, the same talk I had
already given to half a dozen other groups. The nature of the talk was about my writing, my life, and my book, The Joy Luck Club. The talk was
going along well enough, until I remembered one major 2) difference that made the whole talk sound wrong. My mother was in the room. And it was
perhaps the first time she had heard me give a lengthy speech, using the 3) kind of English I

Effects of learning Languages
Learning another language is not only learning different words for the same things, but learning another way to think about things. A bilingual
person is more than one person. Whenever we are learning a new language, it means that we have started a new life with a different vision. If we
learn a language, we understand much about culture or life of a country. If we know one language we are one person, if we know two languages, we
are two people. As an instance; if there is a job vacancy that requires two people knowing two languages and you know two languages, then you are
qualified for that job. Learning a new language seems like we are starting a new journey toward our future life. I am always passionate about learning a
new language, and when I start learning a new language everything is changed.
Firstly, I was the only one in my family who started learning a new language in early ages. Without knowing Dari, which in my native language, I had
started learning Urdu. When I was living in Pakistan, I was having to learn Urdu to go to school. My first journey headed for...show more content...
When I was learning English, I used to watch lots of English movies, and Korean dramas. When I completed upper–intermediate levels in English, I
started teaching in a language academy in Kabul. During my teaching experience at that academy, there was a colleague of mine who was also too
interested in Korean language. Korean language was certainly totally different from English and Urdu, but somehow we are able to communicate with
each other in Urdu. The funny thing was that the others were not able to understand us, when we told jokes in Korean. Since I knew Korean a bit, I
was invited to the Korean Embassy to study a one–month Korean language course for free. I went there to study Korean and later the Embassy
employed me for an organization named Central Statistics organization
