- #3: I am confident that all of you are here today because you want to keep up with current changes in education. Many of you have seen many changes, not all of them good and would like ways to measure and weigh them. It is a challenge to find objective people to use as sounding boards and good information on current topics. Personally, I feel like I could go to a seminar once a month and not know enough - yet how could I ever implement it all anyway!
- #4: As educators working with 21C outcomes and support systems how can we continue to say up the game while maintaining our classrooms?
- #5: I have been teaching for about 25 years, coached about 16 of those, have raised two sons and still managed to remained married! No, we are not the Incredibles, but some days it feels like we need to be as teachers. How can we stay informed, be entertaining, meet standards, reach new goals for technology and still remain sane and enthused with our work?
- #6: Conferences like this are nice, but often they do not meet at the ideal time we need them, or they provide too many ideas at once.
- #7: I have been able to add several components of technology over the last 10 years in my classes, but when I was deciding the most powerful one to present on I decided it had to be RSS feeds. RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and the aggregate or collect information from many different sources on the web into one location. Any location with this symbol can have the information collection into a reader. This Reader has become the source for almost all of my tech development and my PLN.
- #8: HOW is hyperlinked to the YouTube video by GoogleReader on how to construct a site. Remind them they do not need a new email account, just a google account. Now I will break down the step into how mine is set up, show you some feeds I use, and then an advancements possible.
- #9: Choose the blogs that you want to learn from. Start with a few and as you read them you will learn who THEY learn from and expand your list.
- #10: Set up folders in the Reader for the topics you want to learn about.
- #11: Reader can be used for ANY source you wish … humor, content, hobby, …. And you never have to be overwhelmed if you get behind in your reading … there is a majic button that takes care of that too….
