Learning Based Society
the second Peer Assessed Assignment of Foundations of
Teaching for Learning 1: Introduction on Coursera
Minoru Uchida
lbsstudio@support.email.ne.jp
Choose one big idea that has had an impact on your learning and on your approach to teaching. In other words, while
the course should have informed and challenged your own thinking, in what way has it affected what you are doing, or
will do in your classroom, in your school, or in relation to parents and community? This is the story of your own
learning – and teaching - journey. If you are not currently teaching you may, nonetheless, write about what you will or
would do in the future, or indeed what you might have done differently in the past.
Instruction of the assignment

You know “Knowledge Based Society” but
“Leaning Based Society”
“Knowledge Based Society” is enough theory in “stable world”.
You learn knowledge, memory them, use them sometimes. Some of
you create new knowledge, and compile it in a library.
Now is “changing world”. In this world you can’t use knowledge in
same way as you used it past. You have to learn 5W+H(what, why,
where, when, who, how) of changes, and you have to create new
method of using old knowledge or make new knowledge.
It is not enough to compile knowledge in your brain or a library.
You have to learn continuously at every moment to moment. I named it
as “Learning Based Society”. All people are learning continuously, and
make society nice in this society.

“Learning Based Society” and “divergent thinking”
Ken Robinson: Changing Education Paradigms
http://www.ted.com/talks/ken_robinson_changing_education_paradigms.html
I learned this in 4 week in
Foundations of Teaching for
Learning 1: Introduction on
Coursera course.
All of us have to “divergent
thinking” continuously at all
time.
As teachers we should cultivate
these society in which all people
make divergent thinking.
And I call that society “Learning
Based Society” or “LBS”.
