- 5. Definition of • Training event that occurs during a scheduled lunch period of the participant • Participant eats lunch and participates in training session • Participant receives professional development if attends (optional)
- 6. Purpose of doing a “lunch and learn”
- 7. Purpose • Allows more to be trained w/in district at no additional cost for provider/participant • Promotes school community and collaboration between colleagues • Provides professional development during school business hours verse low attendance after school hours • Participant appreciates voluntary participation verse mandatory mandate • Ownership/pride of integrating effectively within one’s classroom
- 8. Where are these conducted? • Location that permits eating and learning simultaneously • Ex: faculty room, faculty cafeteria, conference rooms, computer labs, classrooms, open spaces, etc.
- 9. Set-up • Set-up time, date, topic, and location of “learn and lunch” where all educators can easily access 24/7 • Make the session less formal than traditional PD sessions and open for dialogue • Briefly explain, in advance, the topic and why one should attend (if available)
