This writing workshop will cover targets, success criteria, dialogue, moderation, planning, free writing, reading, grammar, spelling, and developing young writers. Teachers will set targets and judge student work, while also negotiating success criteria with students. Dialogue, planning, and free writing are important parts of the writing process. Reading develops skills and ideas for writing. Grammar and spelling will be taught regularly. The workshop aims to support student and parent learning.

- 8. FREE WRITNG • Importance of free writing opportunities to allow children to write about whatever they choose to e.g. song lyrics, stories, poems, comic strips.

READING • Influences writing • Develops imagination/ideas • Develops knowledge and understanding of vocabulary. • Develops knowledge and understanding of the effect and use of punctuation. • Develops knowledge and understanding of structure and layout. • Develops knowledge and understanding of literacy techniques used for effect.
- 10. GRAMMAR AND SPELLING • Regular grammar lessons. • Spelling not always marked due to the focus of the lesson. • Children can be reluctant to use interesting vocabulary.
