FREE WRITNG
• Importance of free writing opportunities to allow
children to write about whatever they choose to
e.g. song lyrics, stories, poems, comic strips.
READING
• Influences writing
• Develops imagination/ideas
• Develops knowledge and understanding of vocabulary.
• Develops knowledge and understanding of the effect
and use of punctuation.
• Develops knowledge and understanding of structure
and layout.
• Develops knowledge and understanding of literacy
techniques used for effect.
GRAMMAR AND SPELLING
• Regular grammar lessons.
• Spelling not always marked due to the focus of the
lesson.
• Children can be reluctant to use interesting
vocabulary.
