Is the world really small?
This is a question that might not be easy to
answer. Looking at the world today, it is discernible
that what poses a problem
in the Philippines today has also been a problem in
another country.
Is the world really small?
For the scholar of culture and communication,
globalization seems to be shrinking the world.
Communications and technology have made the
world smaller.
The Different Lenses in the Study of the Nature of
Globalization
➢ Globalization is quite a complex phenomenon
- Thus, in the study of globalization, one should look at
it from a variety of lenses. The study of globalization can be
construed from the lens of political science, economics and culture,
and communication.
- powerful and wealthy nations and global corporations have
a strong influence on governments' policymakers.

➢ With the exposure of the present society to the
sphere of globalization, people have started to not
only think of their own but the world itself.

➢ Terrorist attacked on Paris in 2015, people began changing
their profile ( #Pray for Paris!)
➢ existing global trends such as the K-Pop culture, Anime,
Tiktok etc.
➢ The campaign for universal human rights and the
advancements of indigenous people's rights

Conclusions
➢ Globalization has dramatically shaped the world even if globalization
is not a new phenomenon.
➢ Globalization is always uneven and unequal.
- Globalization is creating fresh opportunities for hundreds of millions of
people. But the gap between richest and poorest countries is widening and
inequality within many countries is increasing.
