Teaching approach: The lesson is based on the Natural Approach, and organized
through the PPP procedure (Harmer,2010)


 Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and how?
 Speaking by doing a pair activity in which they have to ask and
answer questions
 Writing by producing a text about their partner’s favourite TV
programmes
 Reading by reading sentences during some tasks and reading their
writing production

 Materials and resources: 
 Board and pieces of chalk
 Photocopies

 Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home: -

 Seating arrangement: Students will sit in pairs to work with their partner.
They will sit in groups of four at the end of the lesson to play a game.

 Assessment: what will be assessed and how 
I'll check Learners comprehension by correcting the activities together
orally or on the board. Besides I’ll check students’ performance in the use of
macro-abilities by monitoring the class.
Stages in the lesson
Routine(2’ min):
Purpose:
 To greet students and start the lesson
Teaching strategies:
 Ask the date for practice
Skills:
 Listening and speaking abilities
Description and instructions: I’ll enter into the classroom and greet pupils. Then I’ll ask
them what day it is and I’ll take note on the board.
T: Good morning, everybody
Sts: Good morning, teacher.
T: what day is today?
Sts: It’s Thursday
T: Great!
Translation: Is everybody here? yes? Ok, so let’s start. We’ll continue the activity of the
last class.
Warm – up (5’ min):
Purpose:
 To revise what they have done the last class
 To connect the speaking task they did the last class with a written task
Teaching strategies:
 Make students some questions to revise the last topic
Skills
 Speaking and listening abilities
Description and instructions: I will remind learners what we worked with during last
class and ask them some questions about what they wrote about their partner likes and
dislikes about TV programmes.
T: Yesterday, we asked our mates what TV programmes he/she likes, which he/she does
not, and what TV programme is his/ her favourite. Please, open your folder and I’ll ask
you some questions about what you completed in the chart. Josefina, what TV programme
does your mate like?
ST1: She likes cartoons.
T: Good, Joaquin what tv programme does you mate not like?
ST2: He doesn’t like quiz shows.
T: Good! Lucia, what is your classmate’s favourite programme?
ST3: Her favourite TV programme is music video
T: Very good!
Transition: Now, you will write about your classmates likes and dislikes but first let’s look
at an example!
Presentation (5’ to 10’min):
Purpose:
 To model learners’ writing by giving an example
 To emphasize some writing points
Teaching strategies:
 Tell them a real example using the topics they have learned
Skills:
 Cognitive and listening abilities
Description and instructions: I’ll show learners an example about me on a poster and
then I’ll ask them some questions about it to emphasize some writing points to bear in
mind.
T: Look at this example. Here, my friend wrote about my likes and dislikes. Pay attention
to the beginning. What do we write here? Favourite programme? Name? age? (pointing
the poster)
STS: Name and age!
T: Ok, your name? Or the name of your classmate?
STS: Classmate!
T: Ok, good! And then?
STS: TV programmes that she/he likes and doesn’t like
T: Good! And… to conclude?
STS: His/her favourite programme
EXAMPLE:
She is Antonella. She is twenty – one years old and she is my classmate.
She likes watching series in the evening. She thinks it is an interesting programme. She
watches this programme at 10.00 pm. In the morning, she likes watching the news.
Antonella thinks it is very interesting and good. She watches this programme at 7.30 am.
She doesn’t like sport programmes because she thinks they are boring.
Her favourite TV programme is a quiz show. She watches it from 6.00 to 7.00 pm on
Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She thinks it is very funny and exciting.
Development(15’to 20’min)
Purpose:
 To develop learners’ writing abilities
 To integrate what they have learned
 To link the last activity (complete the chart) with the new one
Teaching strategies:
 Monitor the class and help them if necessary
 Use motivational feedbacks in their works
Skills:
 Writing skills
Description and instructions: I’ll give students a photocopy in which they have to write
about their partners using the table that they completed last class. Here, they have to
draw their mate, too. I will monitor the activity and help them if necessary. When they
finished, They will read their productions and I’ll paste on their works a motivational
phrase for their effort and then we paste it on a poster.
T: Good! Well, now let’s start! (I’ll give them a photocopy to write the text and draw a
picture about their mate).
T: Lucia can you read your writing please?
ST1: Yes, sure. (She starts to read)
T: Good job, Lucia. Now, Joaquin can you read your writing?
ST2: Yes! (He starts to read)
The same is doing with the rest of the class.
Motivational Phrases:

Purpose:
 To dismiss pupils
 To thanks them for their respect and commitment in every class
Description and instructions: I’ll thank them for their respect and commitment in every
class. I’ll say some words about it and then I’ll give them a little gift to remember my steps
there.
