ICT ( Information
Communication
Technology )
Deals with the use of
different communication
technologies such as
mobile phones, telephone,
internet, etc. to locate,
save, send and edit
information.
We use internet
send a text or make
a call we use
cellular networks.
Video Call
Several international companies hub
the Philippines as the “ICT Hub of
Asia”. It no secret that there is a
huge growth of ICT – related jobs
around the country, one of which is
the call center or BPO (Business
Process Outsourcing) centers.
ICT in the Philippines
The internet has been a
vital tool to our modern
lives that is why it is
also important to make
the best of the
internet.
Dynamic Webpages
When the World Wide Web
(WWW) was intended most
web pages were static.
Static(also known as flat
page or stationary page)in
the sense the page is “as is”
and cannot be manipulate by
the use.
Was the inventor
of World Wide
Web
Tim Berners Lee
Is a web page whose construction is
controlled by an application server
processing server-side scripts. In the
server side scripting, parameters
determine how the assembly of
every new Web page proceeds,
including the setting up of more
client-side processing.
Dynamic Web Page
Is a web page that is
delivered to the user exactly
as stored, in contrast to
dynamic web pages which are
generated by a web
application.

Features of Web
Page 2.0
Allows user to categorize and
classify / arrange information
using freely chosen keywords.
Popular social networking sites
such as a twitter, instagram,
facebook etc.
1. Folksonomy
Content is dynamic and is
responsive to user’s input. In
case of social networking
sites, when logged on, your
account is used to modify
what you see in their
websites.
2. Rich User Experience
The owner of the websites is
not the only one who is able
to put content. Others are
able to place a content of
their own by means of
comments, review and
evaluation.
3. User Participation
Service that are offered on demand
rather that on a one-time purchase.
In certain cases time-base pricing is
better that file-based pricing or
vice versa. The amount of time you
spent in the internet or a data plan
that changes you for the amount of
bandwidth you used.
4. Long Tail
This is the cheaper option if you
do not always need to use a
software. For instance, Google
Docs is a free web-based
application that allow the user
to create and edit word
processing and spreadsheet
documents
5. Software as a Service
Diverse
information sharing
through universal
web access.
6. Mass Participation
LESSON1 (1).pptx
Is a movement led by the
world wide web consortium
(w3C). The W3C standard
encourages web develops to
include semantic content in
their web pages.
Semantic Webpage
Searching become faster and
easier
Complex sentence is use in
searching
Web 3.0
1.Compatibility
HTML files and
current web browsers
could not support Web
3.0
Problems Encountered in
Web 3.0
The user security is
also in question since
the machine is saving
his/her preferences.
2. Security
The world wide
web already
contains billions
of webpages
3. Vastness
Contains words are
imprecise. The words
“old” and “small”
would depend on the
user
4. Vagueness
Since machines use logic,
there are certain
limitations for compute to
be able to predict what
the user is referring to at
a given time.
5. Logic
LESSON1 (1).pptx
1. Convergent technologies
Convergence - is the synergy
of technological advancements
to work on a similar goal or
task. For example, besides using
your personal computer to
create word documents, you
can now use your smartphone.
Internet
Example: iPod (hardware)
iTunes (music)
…has the whole distribution
channel: e-commerce, sell,
share ….
Satellite
Example: GPS
… satellite-based navigation
system made up of a
network of 24 satellites
placed into orbit …
Wireless
Example: in-home
…purely wireless,
information and data
is pushed around
via a router…
*
Cell phone with GPS Google Earth
*2. Social Media
A website, application, or online
channel that enables web users
to create, co-create, discuss,
modify, and exchange user
generated content.
*Types of Social Media
a) Social Networks – These are sites
that allows you to connect with
other people with the same interests
or background. Once the user
creates his/her account, he/she can
set up a profile, add people, share
content, etc.
Example : Facebook and Google+
*Types of Social Media
b) Bookmarking Sites– These are
sites that allow you to store and
manage links to various website
and resources. Most of these
sites allow you to create a tag
allows you to and others easily
share them.
Ex. : StumbleUpon/Pinterest
*
*Types of Social Media
c) Social News– These are sites that
allow users to post their own
news items or links to other news
sources. The users can also
comment on the post and
comments may also be rank.
Example: reddit and Digg
*
*Types of Social Media
d) Media Sharing – These are
sites that allow you to
upload and share media
content like images, music
and video.
Example: Flickr, Youtube and
Instagram.
*
*Types of Social Media
e) Microblogging– These are
sites that focus on short
updates from the user. Those
that subscribed to the user
will be able to receive these
updates.
Example: Twitter and Plurk
*
*Types of Social Media
f) Blogs and Forums– These
websites allow user to post
their content. Other users are
able to comment on the said
topic.
Example: Blogger, WordPress
and Tumblr
*
*3. Mobile Technologies
- The popularities of smartphones and
tablets has taken a major rise over the
years. This is largely because of the
devices capability to do the tasks that
were originally found in PCs.
- Several of these devices are capable of
using high-speed internet. Today the
latest model devices use 4G
Networking(LTE), which is currently the
fastest mobile network.
 iOS– use in apple devices such as iPhone
and iPad.
 Android – an open source OS developed
by Google. Being open source means
mobile phone companies use this OS for
free.
 Blackberry OS– use in Blackberry
devices.
 Windows Phone OS – a closed source and
proprietary operating system developed
by Microsoft.
 Symbian– the original
smartphone OS; used by Nokia
devices.
 WebOS– originally used in
smartphones; now used in
smartTVs.
 Windows Mobile – developed by
Microsoft for smartphones and
pocket PCs.
*4. Assistive Media
*Assistive Media – is a non-
profit service designed to help
people who have visual and
reading impairments. A
database of audio recordings is
used to read to the user.
LESSON1 (1).pptx
*Some examples of assistive technologies
are 1:
*People with physical disabilities that affect
movement can use mobility aids, such as
wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, canes, crutches,
prosthetic devices, and orthotic devices, to
enhance their mobility.
*Hearing aids can improve hearing ability in
persons with hearing problems.
*Cognitive assistance, including computer or
electrical assistive devices, can help people
function following brain injury.
*Some examples of assistive technologies
are 1:
*Computer software and hardware, such as voice
recognition programs, screen readers, and screen
enlargement applications, help people with
mobility and sensory impairments use computer
technology.
*In the classroom and elsewhere, assistive devices,
such as automatic page-turners, book holders, and
adapted pencil grips, allow learners with
disabilities to participate in educational activities.
