Dear All,

I feel really excited to reach out to all of you through this wonderful
newsletter LIMELIGHT. We have successfully completed six months of active
Rotaraction. There are many things that we have done this year and there are
many things that are left out as well. Next 3 months are very vital as we move to
the next set of important programmes lined up at the district level Rotaract Con-
ference ‘SIGARAM’ and ADETS which is a residential leadership programme
for the DRR Elects.
This year the key focus is to promote more awareness about Cleanliness. I am happy to note that under your
zone leader Rtr PP Yuvabala, a posture making competition was conducted among the zone and winners
were given attractive prizes. From district side, we require all of you to focus on reporting the projects that
is being done and identifying your successors as well. Carry out at least one branding programme to reach
out to the public. Continue to invest your valuable time in Rotaract to get the best possible results. Wishing
you a great 2nd half of the year and look forward to work with you.

MONTH SPECIAL :

The National Anthem of India is the work of
the great poet and philosopher RABINDRANATH
TAGORE (1861-1941) and was written orginally in
Bengali. It was first sung on December 27 1911 at
the Calcutta session of the Indian National Con-
gress. It was published in 1912, and was for years
associated with India’s struggle towards indepen-
dence. He wrote not only the words but also the
melody and provided furthermore an English adap-
tion. The melody has little to do with the ‘Ragas’ of
the Hindus. It was sung at the historical midnight
session of the Constituent Assembly on August 14,
1947 and adopted in its Hindi version by the Con-
stituent Assembly as the National Anthem on Janu-
ary 24 ,1950. It was awarded as the most beautiful
National Anthem in the world.
Jana-gana-mana-adhinayka, jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata
Punjab-Sindhu-Gujarath-Maratha-
Dravida-Utkala-Banga
Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga
Uchchala-Jaladhi-Taranga.
Tava Shubha name jage,
Tava Shudha asisa mange,
Gahe tava jaya-gatha,
Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he
Bharata-bhagya-vidhata
Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he,
Jaya jaya jaya jaya he.
Playing time of the full version of the
National Anthem is approximately 52 seconds. A
short version con-sisting of first and last lines of the
stanza (playing time approximately 20 seconds) is
also played on certain occa-sions. The following is
Tagore’s English rendering of this stanza :

Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,
dispenser of india’s destiny.Thy name rouses the
hearts of Punjab, Sind, Gujarat and Maratha, Of the
Dravida and Orissa and Bengali;. It echoes in the
hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas, mingles in the
music of Jamuna and Ganges and is chanted by the
waves of the Indian Sea. They pray for thy bless-
ings and sing thy praise. The saving of all people
waits in thy hand, thou dispenser of India’s destiny,
Victory, Victory, Victory to thee.
End Polio Now :
	 Dear World Leaders,
We call for your support to help eradicate
the second human disease in history.
We call on you to fully fund the critical
work of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative,
which will provide vaccines for hundreds of mil-
lions of the world’s poorest children and support
health workers to protect future generations from
this debilitating disease.
Polio – a disease which has disabled mil-
lions and pulled people further into poverty – has
been reduced by 99% over the past 25 years.
Global efforts have delivered incredible progress:
immunising more than 2 billion children and saving
more than 5 million children from life-long paraly-
sis or death.
This January, the world will reach a remark-
able milestone in the fight to eradicate polio - 12
months without a case of polio in India for the first
time in history.
But progress towards eradication is at risk:
with the critical work of the Global Polio Eradica-
tion Initiative constrained by a $535 million fund-
ing gap - threatening international polio eradication
efforts. That’s why the Global Poverty Project is
working with partners to support the Global Polio
Eradication Initiative, and make the end of polio
reality.

  • 10. Zone 6 Magazine Jan 2012 Rtr.Yuvabala LimeLight MONTH SPECIAL : The National Anthem of India is the work of the great poet and philosopher RABINDRANATH TAGORE (1861-1941) and was written orginally in Bengali. It was first sung on December 27 1911 at the Calcutta session of the Indian National Con- gress. It was published in 1912, and was for years associated with India’s struggle towards indepen- dence. He wrote not only the words but also the melody and provided furthermore an English adap- tion. The melody has little to do with the ‘Ragas’ of the Hindus. It was sung at the historical midnight session of the Constituent Assembly on August 14, 1947 and adopted in its Hindi version by the Con- stituent Assembly as the National Anthem on Janu- ary 24 ,1950. It was awarded as the most beautiful National Anthem in the world. Jana-gana-mana-adhinayka, jaya he Bharata-bhagya-vidhata Punjab-Sindhu-Gujarath-Maratha- Dravida-Utkala-Banga Vindhya-Himachala-Yamuna-Ganga Uchchala-Jaladhi-Taranga. Tava Shubha name jage, Tava Shudha asisa mange, Gahe tava jaya-gatha, Jana-gana-mangala-dayaka jaya he Bharata-bhagya-vidhata Jaya he, jaya he, jaya he, Jaya jaya jaya jaya he. Playing time of the full version of the National Anthem is approximately 52 seconds. A short version con-sisting of first and last lines of the stanza (playing time approximately 20 seconds) is also played on certain occa-sions. The following is Tagore’s English rendering of this stanza : Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people, dispenser of india’s destiny.Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sind, Gujarat and Maratha, Of the Dravida and Orissa and Bengali;. It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas, mingles in the music of Jamuna and Ganges and is chanted by the waves of the Indian Sea. They pray for thy bless- ings and sing thy praise. The saving of all people waits in thy hand, thou dispenser of India’s destiny, Victory, Victory, Victory to thee. End Polio Now : Dear World Leaders, We call for your support to help eradicate the second human disease in history. We call on you to fully fund the critical work of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, which will provide vaccines for hundreds of mil- lions of the world’s poorest children and support health workers to protect future generations from this debilitating disease. Polio – a disease which has disabled mil- lions and pulled people further into poverty – has been reduced by 99% over the past 25 years. Global efforts have delivered incredible progress: immunising more than 2 billion children and saving more than 5 million children from life-long paraly- sis or death. This January, the world will reach a remark- able milestone in the fight to eradicate polio - 12 months without a case of polio in India for the first time in history. But progress towards eradication is at risk: with the critical work of the Global Polio Eradica- tion Initiative constrained by a $535 million fund- ing gap - threatening international polio eradication efforts. That’s why the Global Poverty Project is working with partners to support the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, and make the end of polio reality.
