      DEC/JAN MONTHLY REPORT
GWEN LEHMAN, LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST JANICE KNEISLEY, LIBRARY ASSISTANT

2011 Spelling Bee “Sorry, we don’t have any
                                   computers available right now.”
This phrase has been heard by staff and students at
LMS over the past month. With the introduction of
Google Apps, teachers and students have increased
their use of computers throughout the day. The library
staff has made every effort to fill the teacher and
student computer requests, but some have been told
that there are just no computers available.
Computers are being used in the classroom for
programs like Study Island and Compass Learning,
which provide extra skills practice in math and reading.
They are also being used for class projects like the
book projects for Mrs. Smith’s 7th grade English class
and paperless assignments taking place in the 6th
grade. The library has also been using computers
during 5th and 6th grade library skills to train students
on their school email accounts and the other Google
applications. Individual students are checking out more
computers to check their school email for new and
completed assignments from their teachers. They have
also been using the computers to complete and turn in
                                   their paperless assignments.
The library anticipates this computer usage trend to
continue and we will do everything we can to meet the
needs of our teachers and students.

                                                                          Mission

The Larned Middle School Library will be an inviting, user-friendly hub providing
opportunities for active, engaging and challenging learning for students and staff
through various media resources, programming and collaboration. The LMS
Library will provide a quality program that will enable students to be lifelong
learners and enhance the curriculum and technology standards of Larned Middle
                                     School.
