This document is a log book for a student named Jerin Roy documenting their preliminary work on a music magazine project for an OCR Media Studies course. It includes research on established music magazines, their target audiences, conventions used in magazine design, and the publisher IPC Media (now called Time Inc. UK). The research found that magazines like NME target teenagers interested in alternative rock and indie music to keep up with bands and scenes. Conventions like rhetorical questions, cover images, mastheads and barcodes were identified, but straplines describing the magazine were missing from examples.
