Creating Log Entries
Use
Operational information, which is stored in log entries, is customer specific. Therefore, SAP does not provide a standard format for log entries.
To do this, implement Business Add-In Log Entry Subscreen (LGE_SUBSCR_ACL) to define your log entry subscreen. After implementing the Business Add-
In, you can create log entries that contain your specific operational data and log notifications with reference to log entries.
§ Standard fields for log entry ID (=key) and description are stored in the log entry database table
§ Standard fields for the operation’s start and end time are stored as an operation time measurement document
§ Number of cycles is stored as a cycles measurement document
To add fields to the log entry database table, see the Business Add-In Log Entry Subscreen in Customizing for Configuration Control under Make General
Settings for Installation/Removal ( Plant Maintenance and Customer Service ® Maintenance and Service Processing ® Configuration Control ® Make
General Settings for Installation/Removal ).
The Log Entry screen is divided into the following parts:
· Log entry
In these fields, you can enter the log entry ID, log entry type, and description (such as a flight number).
· Status
This field displays the status of this flight.
· Operational Data
In this section, you can enter information including the time, date, and time zone for your take-off and landing. You can also enter the number of cycles.
Prerequisites
· A logbook folder has already been created.
· Business Add-In Log Entry Subscreen (LGE_SUBSCR_ACL) has been implemented.
Procedure
1. On the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Logistics ® Plant Maintenance ® Maintenance Processing ® Logbook ® Logbook .
2. In the navigation area toolbar, select a logbook by choosing one of the selection options in the Selection menu.
The Logbook Selection screen appears.
3. Enter the appropriate information and choose Execute .
4. In the left frame, select the logbook folder, and from the detail area toolbar, choose Create Log Entry .
5. Enter the key and operational data for the new log entry and choose Continue .
You can now create log measurement documents, log notifications, or additional log entries.
If you want to Then
Create log measurement documents · Choose Create Log measurement documents in the detail area toolbar
(Creating Log Measurement Documents).
· In Customizing, for log entries, define which measurement points are
mandatory for update (see below).
This definition controls the processing of log entries, because it prevents you from
completing a log entry in which not all mandatory measurement documents have
been created yet.
· To link log measurement documents into the Logbook , choose Link
measurement document .
Create log notifications Choose Log notification in the detail area toolbar (Creating Log Notifications).
You can also create a log entry by placing your cursor on the logbook folder and clicking the secondary mouse button. The other
documents can be created by placing the cursor on an existing log entry and clicking the secondary mouse button.
6. Save the created log entries.

1.1 Start and End Times and Cycles
Use
In addition to measurement documents, this function can help you capture operation data for times and cycles to be stored in a log entry table.

Features
You can capture the following:
· Partial data (for example, only the departure date and time)
· Time zone information
After you capture the log entry times and cycle data in the log entry table, the corresponding measurement documents are created. Updating the times and cycle
values after the log measurement documents are created automatically updates these documents.
!--a11y-->
1.2 Log Entry Type
Definition
Specifying the log entry type offers greater flexibility in controlling log entry processing.
The log entry type helps you do the following:
· Enables different processing control for log entries with different business meanings (for example, a flight versus a ground log entry)
· Visibility of the business meaning
You immediately know what log entries are for and can select, sort, and group them accordingly.
Structure
The log entry type is maintained in Customizing and allows the following processing control (Customizing Settings):
· Default status profile
A default status profile can be assigned to a log entry. This default status profile is automatically assigned to a log entry that is created using this log entry
type. Status profiles can be maintained in Customizing.
· Counter update customizing
The log entry types are used in the counter update Customizing. You can have different sets of measurement documents that can (and should be) captured
for each log entry. (For example, you can have cycles and flying hours as mandatory measurement documents for flight log entries.)
To maintain log entry types, in Customizing, choose Plant Maintenance and Customer Service ® Maintenance and Service Processing ® Logbook
® Define Log Entry Types.
