Mark Sanchez is a quarterback for the New York Jets who was drafted #1 in the 2009 NFL draft. He was only the fourth rookie quarterback to win his first playoff game and the second to win two playoff games in his rookie season. Sanchez was born in Long Beach, California and is of Mexican American descent. He attended the University of Southern California where he took a redshirt season before becoming the starting quarterback in 2008, throwing for a career-best 338 yards. In 2010, Sanchez had surgery to repair a knee ligament injury but recovered quickly.
